California's first significant heatwave of the year will begin next week, peaking from June 4-6 across the Central Valley, where record-breaking heat is expected as temperatures soar well into the 100s. There is potential for temperatures to exceed 105°F in Sacramento and much of the San Joaquin Valley. Record-warm overnight temperatures are also likely, with many cities not dipping below 70°F for multiple nights. Fortunately, much of the Bay Area and Southern California will be spared from the worst heat due to the influence of the marine layer, with the most intense heat focused on inland Central and Northern California.
