The 7 principles of the Japan French Fries Association: 1. Love french fries and eat them at least once a week 2. Eat all the french fries you are served. 3. Do not pressure others to like french fries as you do. 4. Do not persecute those who dislike french fries.

@adamcole I love the Stanford iOS course: cs193p.sites.stanford.edu It’s free online, and updated as Apple’s APIs evolve. I’d also recommend building a personal app for learning that’s you’re happy to show off in interviews.

My heart goes out to all the folks suddenly without a job, especially with so many layoffs happening across companies right now. If you’ve got iOS or macOS development experience, the Messages team at Apple is hiring at Apple Park! My DM’s are open.

@Getfreetext1 I don’t speak for the company as a whole, but I do not believe that characterization was accurate. My team is hiring.

There are plenty of ways to stand out as a junior engineer without taking a back seat. A few that worked for me: 1. When you’re faced with an unfamiliar problem, break it down into smaller problems. You might even recognize pieces that you already know how to solve.

While the vast majority of users will never be the victims of highly targeted cyberattacks, Apple will work tirelessly to protect the small number of users who are. I’m deeply proud of our next steps, including a groundbreaking feature: Lockdown Mode. apple.com/newsroom/2022/…

@kocienda It had virtual memory, it just didn’t swap. Without virtual memory, processes will stomp on each others memory all trying to write to the same location.

The original iPhone had no virtual memory. Some folks came up with a system named “jetsam”. Since we only showed one app at a time, we terminated background programs when memory got low. Those programs would relaunch rather than resume when brought back to the front.

Always thought I’d stick around until I got that crystal 10 year award. Got this heavy metal block instead. It’s pretty cool but my leave condition wasn’t met so I guess I’ll keep going!

Acronyms aren’t efficient communication. They usually obscure information and are often an attempt at inflating social status. FYSA.

I managed multiple engineering teams before quitting big tech. Now that I quit, I can speak freely. Here are 12 things your manager may not be telling you, but I know for a fact will help you. 👇
