$38M to upgrade heat pumps in 712 units = ~$53K per unit.
Rent-stabilized buildings are trading around $80K per unit.
We’re asking owners to spend ~70% of a unit’s market value on heat pumps alone.
And we wonder why the housing stock is deteriorating...

Today in the Rockaways, I stood with NYCHA residents to announce a $38M investment to bring clean, reliable heat pumps to Beach 41st Street Houses. This means warmer homes in the winter, cooler homes in the summer, lower emissions, and real climate action that improves people’s lives — starting with the communities too often left behind.

@Hotshot_Movie @spencerpratt This project was started before the fires. Do you expect them to scrap it so we can rebuild the Palisades? Get real you chud @spencerpratt

An ADDITIONAL $18M for a project that - in typical CA fashion - is late and over budget. But they can’t clear flammable brush around communities to prevent thousands of homes burning down. Lord have mercy.
