The past 7 years have slipped by like nothing at all. I recall almost none of it... it's difficult to grasp that so much time has truly passed. My sense of time feels warped, unsteady, almost unreal.

The Boomification of Millenials is reaching advanced stages. We are now at “I’m Gen X and I drank from the garden hose” levels of cringe. Soon the Boomification will metastasize, the cascading effects will be irreversible and Millenials will transform into Boomers

@SimpGanassi Also a lot if this is dependent on whether you country has invested in domestic travel for example, japan has and every region prides itsef on a foodstuff, and the uk doesnt, and places brag about having the last wimpy burger or whatever

I do think that it is comforting to know I'm not going to be living the same life that old people now live in 40 years, but I'm going to grow old with my cohort. I love you guys

I used to think that we used to envision a downside to immortality in fiction as humans struggle to imagine getting something good without some sort of caveat, but now I think its just that I'd hate to see someone happy with what I am not.

what hurts me the most is how low agency I was for all of my university years, and I don't even mean that in a decroded productivity kinda way I just wish I was more interested in doing things instead of waiting for a more opportune time to do them.

@Evertxn kinda feel sad that as a person in the UK at some point when the lived lives started to get familiar I basically ceased to be able to enjoy this, or the UK office.

I have seriously been underestimating Peep Show… season 1 put me off but season 2 onwards could be special

will say that somehow it took me until now to realise that big brother was named after the 1984 character. I just never watched it so I assumed it was like a mentorship show.

need to ask someone who's old if like the pride you feel for your child growing up and reaching milestones up to young adulthood keeps going as they like age into their 40s or at that point is that just some guy

@GambelerQuail the thing is its good advice for living in the world we find ourselves in but maybe not necessarily conducive to a meaningfully lived life, however one finds they define that.

I was raised by Protestant work ethic weirdos and they kind of drill the whole “just keep swimming” thing into you. They are basically right, I know people with anxiety or whatever where it turns into being unemployed for years and sleeping all day. You will feel way worse!

after a childhood poorly lived for some reason your brain tries to forget all the memories of you and your friends but for sure the plot of finding nemo is deep lodged in there

its crazy you actually do forget what it was like to be a kid. You just assume some sort of continuity of self that takes that construct of you further and further from who you actually were
