A woman at the post office was so thrilled to see me reading Briggs’ Encyclopaedia of Fairies that she asked to snap a photo. This book is a jewel of my collection, sublime in its weirdness & horrors. Susanna Clarke says it’s the primary reference for the lore in her books.

It'a not a productivity hack if you end up working more, and the total cost increases.
If AI would actually increase productivity, we would read about people working less to achieve more.
However all we see are reports of negative effects - higher work loads, cognitive overload, declining abilities to think and be creative, increasing cost due to token spend ever increasing, push back against the energy use, etc
Btw I am in favor of AI and automation in general, just not the overhyped variants.

Its downright disturbing how over-produced every product in America is. It feels like 90% of things created are never sold and just end up in landfills. For example, these Walmart aisles are LOADED with easter decor thats headed for the garbage. Its disgusting.

my grandma bought this washing machine (pic is not mine but it was identical, sold with different brands depending on where in europe you lived) in I think 1980? and it kept marching on despite all of the plastic on it getting destroyed by time marching forward ruthlessly
we threw it away because it had some rust but it was still going lol

@f4micom You'll regret buying one. The front door rubber seal gets gunked up quick with hair and grime. If you're not checking the seal you'll get mold as well.

@f4micom Oh absolutely the older appliances hands down last longer and work better. These newer front load rubber seals are a different beast though. I'd do a deep dive and research customer feedback on anything newer.
