On Friday, the Trump administration tortured a man from New Hampshire. Fabian Schmidt—a legal U.S. resident, an electrical engineer, a father—was detained at Logan Airport. They stripped him naked. Denied him food, water, and medication. Threw him in a cold shower. To this day, the DOJ has not filed charges against him. Why? To coerce him into giving up his green card. A man with no ongoing legal issues. A legal resident of the United States just trying to go home. This is third world behavior—it's cruelty for cruelty’s sake. It’s a warning shot to every immigrant, every student, every doctor, and engineer who might want to come here: You are not safe. This is not America.
