THIS IS INSANE!!!🤯 China just made it ILLEGAL to fire a human worker and replace them with AI.. and the way they found out is insane.. a quality assurance supervisor named Zhou worked at an AI company in Hangzhou.. his job was verifying AI-generated content.. matching user queries with model outputs.. filtering hallucinations and illegal content.. he was literally training the AI to do his own job.. once the model got good enough.. the company told him they were moving him to a lower position.. with a 40% pay cut.. from 25,000 yuan to 15,000.. he refused.. they fired him.. he sued.. and won.. the Hangzhou court ruled that replacing a human with AI is not a valid reason to fire someone.. period.. their logic.. adopting AI is a voluntary business decision.. not an earthquake.. not a government shutdown.. not a force majeure event.. it's a choice the company made to save money.. and because it's a choice.. the company has to absorb the cost of that transition.. not dump it on the worker.. this wasn't a one-off ruling either.. in Beijing.. a map data collector named Liu spent over a decade manually collecting geographic data.. the company switched to AI-automated data collection.. eliminated his entire department.. fired him.. he sued.. won.. exact same reasoning.. AI adoption is a proactive business strategy.. not an unforeseeable external shock.. and here's what's happening in the background that makes these rulings so urgent.. unemployment for chinese workers aged 25 to 29 just hit a record 7.7%.. the highest since they started tracking that age group separately.. companies across china are literally forcing employees to document their daily workflows so AI models can learn to replace them.. workers are training their own replacements and they know it.. a 24-year-old engineer built an open-source tool called "Colleague.Skill" that scrapes your work chat history, emails, code commits, and documents.. and creates a digital clone of you that can do your exact job after you're gone.. he meant it as a dark joke.. it got 13,400 stars on GitHub in three weeks.. top 0.1% of all projects globally.. because it wasn't really a joke.. it was exactly what companies were already doing to their employees.. workers in Shanghai and Beijing told MIT Technology Review that management was actively coercing them to document everything specifically to train AI replacements.. china's response.. make it illegal.. the State Council launched the "AI Plus" initiative.. a ten-year plan that explicitly mandates AI must augment workers.. not replace them.. companies must use AI to upgrade existing roles.. not eliminate them.. by 2027.. smart devices and AI agents must reach 70% penetration.. by 2030.. over 90%.. but the growth has to create jobs.. not destroy them.. now compare this to the US.. in america.. at-will employment means your company can fire you and replace you with AI tomorrow.. no warning.. no severance negotiation.. no retraining obligation.. as long as they're not discriminating based on race, age, or disability.. it's perfectly legal.. there is no federal law protecting american workers from AI displacement.. none.. california proposed a bill requiring just 30 days notice before deploying AI that affects employment.. that's the most aggressive protection any US state has attempted.. china made it illegal to fire you.. america doesn't even require a heads up.. and here's the irony nobody is talking about.. china.. the country the west accuses of having no worker protections.. just gave its workers more protection from AI than any democracy on earth.. the question isn't whether AI will replace jobs.. it's whether your country will protect you when it does.

Anthropic just pulled Claude Code from the Pro plan. Pro users wanting it need Max now. $100/month minimum. 5x jump. I'm on Max 20x so I'm fine. Flagging for anyone on Pro who's about to find out. No announcement. Just a pricing page edit.

CLAUDE OPUS 4.6 IS NERFED. BridgeBench just proved it. Last week Claude Opus 4.6 ranked #2 on the Hallucination benchmark with an accuracy of 83.3%. Today Claude Opus 4.6 was retested and it fell to #10 on the leaderboard with an accuracy of only 68.3%. A 98% increase in hallucination. bridgebench.ai just confirmed that Claude Opus 4.6 has reduced reasoning levels and is nerfed.

The problem is Anthropic 3x’d usage in a 3 month period. Highly doubt their data center capacity is that elastic. They couldn’t keep model quality high if even if they wanted to. Long term intelligence is a commodity bottlenecked by capacity and inference cost. Demand currently exceeds supply at $200/month Mythos is going to bring us closer in line to pricing that balances supply of intelligence with demand. Wouldn’t be surprised to see $1000/month for opus 4.5 quality and have that quickly hit capacity as well. Harnesses matter and should be built to be interchangeable with intelligence layers.

I completely agree with her assessment that “Claude has regressed to the point it cannot be trusted to perform complex engineering”. There are two problems with building businesses on top of frontier models. The first is the cost and value capture. The frontier labs are aiming to capture the value that they create and become the new Google, Facebook where, in the past, you would raise venture money to scale your SaaS and you would spend marginally all of it on CPC ads for customers acquisition. Then all that value accrues to Google/Facebook stock. The goal with the frontier labs is capture all that value instead. There is no incentive to bring costs down or democratize access, that’s going to have to come from innovation outside those labs. The second is the “they’re not going to let us have this” problem. (phrase coined by @androolloyd in our discussions/strategizing about this around the turn of the new year) Opus 4.5 was good enough that you could actually make serious progress with it. Now that they’ve gotten everyone hooked on crack, they’ve diluted the package. It’s been brutal for over a month. The amount of money we’ve spent on the API for this degraded product makes me sick. They have completely nerfed it and there’s a good chance Mythos is just them re-releasing an unquantized version of the same/similar thing that we already had, just in a way that’s more economically sustainable for them. And which is rumoured to be gatekept by organization. If you’re operating in this field you have to take these dynamics into account and act accordingly.

AMD Senior AI Director confirms Claude has been nerfed. She analyzed Claude's session logs from Janurary to March: > median thinking dropped from ~2,200 to ~600 chars > API requests went up 80x from Feb to Mar. less thinking and failed attempts meaning more retries, burning more tokens, and spending more on tokens > reads-per-edit dropped from 6.6x → 2.0x. model stops researching code before touching it. > model tried to bail out or ask "should i continue" 173 times in 17 days (0 times before March 8). > self-contradiction in reasoning ("oh wait, actually...") tripled. > conventions like CLAUDE.md get ignored because there's less thinking budget to cross-check edits > 5pm and 7pm PST are the worst hours, late night is significantly better. this means the thinking allocation is most likely GPU-load-sensitive.

President Trump seems unaware that the IRGC openly declared, immediately after the Israeli's blew Trump's ceasefire deal by attacking into Lebanon in direct violation of the deal his own Administration negotiated thru Pakistan, that they would continue to control traffic thru the Strait. Making stmts like this only diminishes him further in Iran's eyes, the eyes of our friends and allies, and makes it *more* likely Iran will not give in to his demands. The reason the Strait was closed to traffic associated with the US/Israel/Arab countries is because of the war we chose to start, and the reason it has STAYED closed is because we don't have the military power to compel Iran to open it. That's still the case today, with or without a ceasefire. Like it or not, the President handed leverage to Tehran over the Strait by the foolish decision to choose war. He cannot now withdraw said leverage by complaining about it on Truth Social. That may work on his domestic enemies, but it will only get him mocked by Iran. We better make a deal, very soon, or the price of oil, the price (and quantity) of fertilizer feedstocks, and even the price and availability of high tech chips in Asia will all spiral out of control, and nothing will be affordable; taken far enough, in the medium term there may not be enough food produced to feed the planet. There are serious consequences to believing your own press about how powerful we are...
