@ThePrimeagen >show up late >eat >have one meeting >eat >eat some more >laugh and "work" >its been about an hour time to go home Wait so why were 500K people laid off between 2022-2023 in Silicon Valley?

If "day in the life videos" for office workers were honest they'd be screen recordings with a webcam feed in the corner The primary domain is slack channels & jira boards, they should be full screen. The neon cafe sign on the fake plant wall is relegated to a small pixelated box

@TheMindScourge This feels like a significant paradigm shift because only a couple decades ago or so most would have picked yellow You don't hear "in 50 years we'll have x" used for positive predictions much anymore

All things equal, you should do better 50 years ago than traveling 50 years into the future You know nothing about that world, while 1975 is quite familiar. You know where to invest. Where to live. You buy Apple early and hold it. You buy Bitcoin You gain a reputation as a Nostradamus by predicting all manner of events - election outcomes, the collapse of a superpower. You become a guru. Everyone wants to talk to you. You can’t fail. No one knows how you do it, and everyone wants it Whereas the future is necessary opaque. You won’t have any money. Your skills likely won’t be relevant. People will even speak differently and you won’t understand. You’ll feel like an alien, whereas in 1975 you’ll feel like a god. Or you take the $100 million. You can live on that. It won’t be so bad

i have theory that The Algorithm exposes you to more of the worst parts of your outgroup than your outgroup sees and this does absolutely terrible things for communication and theory of mind

If you want to comprehend Why I think OpenAI Eventually implodes Try digging through How their financials work You’ll find that They’re essentially A highly levered bet On the conversion to A For Profit entity If that doesn’t happen The entire AI trade, will blow up
simp 4 satoshi@iamgingertrash

@zerohedge Sam doesn’t have the funds But is attempting to produce Promises As something to point at To raise the required funds The problem is, the funds are contingent Upon completion of the For Profit entity Which means that if OpenAI doesn’t convert It unwinds And blows up

@goof_iest People forget there was lag to the camera anxiety. Early Facebook people would post drunken photos of each other and it was taken stride The anxiety came from seeing previously forgettable social mishaps get immortalized and subsequently mobbed, with real world consequences

there’s something real sadistic and twisted about women who think lab-grown diamonds are tacky. it’s atom-for-atom identical to a natural diamond, but you only want it if some starving congolese kid clawed it out of the dirt for you? crazy bitch

This only looks ugly if you lack imagination. I see myself at age 16 making out with a girl in her basement while watching Futurama. Or walking with my buddies at 2am while smoking weed. You just gotta look a little closer.

@wanyeburkett @poorlyreasoned I don't disagree with that, it'd be fine to discuss with his neighbor I just disagree with the framing of "have a right to know" which makes it sound like some sort of privacy violation, whereas it's on a sign in public & he's taken the minimally invasive option

@smorgandev @poorlyreasoned The issue is that he’s under no obligation to do that, it’s not in his material interest, and, contra the advice he got in that thread, it’s fine for him to chat with his neighbor about removing the flags

@wanyeburkett @poorlyreasoned This is such a strange thing to take issue with. The neighbors politics are on a sign outside his house. Some buyers don't like that. He decided it's better to leave it be so they can decide if they want to live next to a political lawn sign type of guy Where is the issue?

@poorlyreasoned I mean, you don’t have any *duty* to act such that your neighbor’s politics are maximally legible, which is what’s being implied here. That’s just silly.

@growing_daniel Checked a fbm room once. Small SFH. Spiritual healer woman. 6 dogs. Barked entire time I was there. Place stank of piss. She's visibly stressed/unhappy Struck me how the hell she lives in is entirely her own design & could be fixed in a 1hr trip. Made me wonder my own blindspots
