It’s simply astonishing to hear European leaders telling the media and @realDonaldTrump that this is not Europe’s war. It is absolutely their war. This is such stunning cowardice by the British and Germans and all of them. Over the past decade, European leaders and intelligence agencies have publicly announced that they thwarted or exposed Iranian-linked attacks inside their own borders at least 20-25 times. That’s a ballpark figure, as some years saw clusters of plots, and not every one makes headlines. Iran (often via the IRGC or MOIS) has targeted dissidents, Israelis, Jews and critics, sometimes using criminals as proxies for deniability. Here is a non exhaustive list of just 20 specific instances, with a few grouped where agencies announced multiple threats at once: 1.2016, Germany – Iranian agent convicted for spying on Jewish and Israeli targets. 2.2018, Germany – Raids on 10 Iranian agents scouting embassies, kindergartens and Jewish sites. 3.2018, Albania – Two operatives charged with terrorism for surveilling a dissident gathering. 4.2018, Netherlands – Two Iranian diplomats expelled over an assassination plot against a regime opponent. 5.2018, Denmark – Foiled plot to kill an Iranian-Arab dissident; intelligence directly blamed Tehran.
 6-7 2018, France/Belgium – Major bomb plot against an MEK opposition rally near Paris; an Iranian diplomat was later convicted (linked cases). 8.2021, Cyprus – Azerbaijani-Iranian operative arrested for planning to assassinate an Israeli businessman. 9.2022, Turkey – Multiple IRGC-linked plots to attack Israeli tourists; several suspects arrested. 10.2022, Georgia – Foiled IRGC plan to murder an Israeli citizen. Then came a big one:
 11. 2022, UK – MI5 announced it had thwarted at least 10 kidnapping or assassination threats against Iranian dissidents and journalists in a single year, many using criminal proxies. 12. 2022, UK (separate case) – “The Wedding” plot to kill Iran International TV presenters by hiring street criminals. 13.2022, Albania – Devastating ransomware attack on government systems; Albania cut diplomatic ties with Iran. 14. 2023, Cyprus – Another Iranian operative arrested for targeting Israeli and Jewish sites. 15.2023, Sweden – Security service warned that Iran was actively recruiting criminal gangs to hit Israeli interests. 16. 2023, Spain – Attempted assassination of politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras; authorities publicly linked it to Iran. 17. 2023, Germany – Cyber espionage campaign targeting Iranian dissidents via phishing attacks. 18.2024, Greece – Two men arrested for planning a bomb and gun attack on a Jewish synagogue and restaurant in Athens. 19.2024, France/Germany – French-Algerian couple charged with scouting attacks on Jewish targets in Paris, Munich and Berlin. 20.2024, UK – Fresh plot to murder an Iran International presenter; US charges followed against three men tied to Iran. And that’s not even counting extra cyber hits on Albania in 2023-24, or the wave of warnings in 2025 after regional tensions spiked. European agencies keep stressing the pattern: Iran tests borders, uses proxies, and rarely stops trying. This should be a sobering reminder of the persistent threat.
