Yankees fans...wanna know what we mean by "rent free"? Astros fans have no clue when the birthdays are for any of your players. But you sure do know ours. Happy Birthday Altuve. #rentfree #fortheH

@skeeto111 @Dom_Delecto @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 I get this. My original response was not to the original post but to a comment that implied being a pipe fitter was beneath him. This is where you guys lose me. I was at a auto body shop today. There's a 22 year old that might make more money than me. There are jobs AI can't do.

Yes, but the OPs argument is that things are much worse now. Getting a job fresh out of college that pays in the 30 grand range is still the norm...even in 2026, when the cost of living is much higher than it was in 2006, and that's even if you get a job with AI replacing entry level positions

A mother earning $60K says she can’t afford her daughter’s medical care—but would qualify for assistance if she earned less. She says the system punishes those trying to stay afloat.

@NoMorePraheets @EganTearle @i_d_smith @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 Well brother, I dont hire people or rent to people. Despite how this thread depicts me as a billionaire boomer...I'm actually just a millianial dude doing alright. Stuck with a job for a long time. Have a wife that makes decent money. That helps. Normal life though.

@snakefield1 @EganTearle @i_d_smith @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 I'm too old for the old fields. I grew up in the midwest, where if you don't know anybody you're relegated to nothing. I don't see the need to work at a gas station in a HCOL area to make what I make now, thanks, especially working under one of your Indian relatives.

@LanceVader @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 Right. It was 20 years ago to be exact which would be around 52K. But you're right. I did fine on 32K. I make quite a bit more than 52K now but 20 years with the same company, I'm quite a bit more valuable. That is what I think is missed. Your value and skills inflate too.

@snakefield1 @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 24 years ago it was pretty good. That would be like making 60k today. I think a lot of people would be very satisfied with a job like that in this economy.

@LanceVader @ThomBrady5 @endH1BOPT @Google Absolutely nothing. That's how this whole thing got started. Someone bitching about how bad things are for young people but don't suggest doing a trade like pipe fitting because that's beneath him. I called the BS out and now I'm a (40 yr old) boomer. FML

@snakefield1 @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 Point being that you don't understand money works. And you'll definitely never admit how much was just handed to you because of when and where you were born.

@snakefield1 @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 When I first started making $100k a couple of years after I married his daughter, my boomer father in law went on about how he never made more than $45k per year. Yet owned one house in the nicest, newest development in town and six more rentals all over the city.

@Vesmic87 @endH1BOPT @ThomBrady5 Bro I know gas stations paying more than that. I know auto body techs, welders, HVAC, and especially oil field guys that make a hell of alot more than that. Kids without skills are not in high demand.
