@rad_hardened Since you brought up why he’s even on the ship, let’s be clear about one thing. If you’re one of those people who love this movie and how they put Grace on that ship you can never criticize any type of government draft in this country ever again.

My one gripe about the Project Hail Mary movie was that they rushed the first scene and didn't spend enough time having Grace gradually discover that he was on a spacecraft in deep space.

@SeanceCat3 @IMAO_ the idea would be that in some amount of time experienced by the ship (lets say 1 year), outside observers would see you travelling a distance that takes 2 years. This means that the ship is only burning fuel (at the normal rate) for 1 year - saving fuel.

@IMAO_ Why would time dilation make the trip shorter? Wouldn't the distance be the same just the time taken be shorter, the fuel required would be the same right?

Near the end of Project Hail Mary, I think the computer said it would take four years to get home but I thought he was over eleven light-years away. Did I miss something? Is that some relativity thing?
