The father of seven has not finished a thought in four years. he is just moving. feeding. driving. wiping. his brain is soup and his back is finished and he has no opinions about civilization he is too tired for opinions. and meanwhile civilization is growing out of him like he is dirt and he doesnt even notice because there is milk on the floor again. the childfree man has read eleven books this year about the decline of the west and he is the decline and the books are the evidence and he will understand this at fifty eight in a room that is very clean and very quiet

In all this endless discourse, has anybody yet come up with a theory of how Nolan's diversity casting choices _improved_ the movie? All I'm hearing so far are things like: - But film was good anyway. - Only on screen 5 minutes. - Why are you asking? Are you racist? - I hate you.

@Steve_Sailer i remember people saying that when it came out, but I always took it for a joke-promotion in the spirit of the movie itself. and kinda clever.

"O Brother Where Art Thou?" is one of the most enjoyable movies I've ever seen. But I don't actually think it's an adaptation of "The Odyssey" in any but the goofiest sense.

Need prayers. Had some medical testing done, and it was implied that if it took a long time to get the results back that probably meant something bad. It has now reached the point of a long time with no word back.

Agreed and I’ll give you an example. I have read more of Machiavelli, and studied the words, the source material, the academia in depth. Ditto Thucydides and I have kept meticulous notes and gotten into weeds on everything Ive read on their works and the history and social climate of was written in. Only thing I haven’t done was learn the languages they were written in. I also study who the works were intended to satisfy. And so on I don’t scold people for reading the books superficially, in fact they’re way better off rather than digging thru all the rabbit holes. Likewise when people ask me what translation to read, such a silly and petty question. The differences between the translations are so minute, just slight variations of small words and comma placements. For me this stuff is kinda crucial. But for the average person who just wants to get the just and move on with their lives - it doesn’t make one iota of a difference. Likewise all the geniuses especially in military and political theory who lie to their stupid audiences and have not read the material - aka Colin Powell testimony but whatever. If people enjoy the movie and get its gists - it’s a good movie
The Woman@DarkCityWakeup

@adamscrabble It’s about the spell of the story & immersion of the movie. Directors can successfully do adaptation & interpretation of ancient/classic text without injection of the culture war. See Romeo + Juliet (1996)

Isn’t it weird how unsubsidized consumer goods like TVs, appliances, clothes, all get cheaper and cheaper…while anything government puts its hands on, healthcare, housing, food, tuition, cars, utilities…just gets more and more unaffordable? Oh well. Probably nothing.

You know what’s a good movie though is 1918. Watched this randomly the other day. Directed by Sam Mendes, turns out. Couldn’t stop watching, just kept thinking how amazing this is the whole way through. Not sure I’ve seen a better movie made within the past decade. “How didn’t I hear more about this thing? Why didn’t it get all sorts of praise and awards? Everyone’s been sleeping on this gem, I gotta tell people about this”. Then afterwards I looked it up & it did get all sorts of praise and awards. Oh

Talk of ‘statute of limitations’ on complaining about (what is described as) 2020-21 peak Woke craziness appears premised on the idea that Woke craziness actually did peak then, is on permanent wane, the danger of recurrence gone. I don’t think there’s any reason to believe this though. Similarly with the Public Health Fascism that was insta-embraced by the entire elite technobureaucracy and hastily shoved down all our throats at that time. People say we shouldn’t talk about that anymore too. But these things can and, as far as I know will, recur in a mass-mania anytime. I see no reason whatsoever to believe they can’t or won’t. They’re not ‘gone’ they’re not ‘a thing of the past’, I’m not convinced of that at all. And saying Hey bro that was like 5 years ago (let’s just not ever even talk about or address it) does not help convince me of it. If anything it’s part of a hibernation strategy that guarantees it will. You don’t just go sleep in your tents without pouring water on the embers of your campfire

What should be the statute of limitation on discussing woke censorship? I think it should be 10 years after the Dr Seuss books that were pulled from publication and from library shelves are finally re-printed.

Last night the entire media establishment was spooked. Selfie videos and posts from Dems including Kamala. That says it all.

“When I hear complaints from Democrats that, ‘we can’t air false election claims because that will discourage the voters,’ … I say, ladies and gentlemen, the media aired false election claims about ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ for the entirety of the Trump presidency,” says @MarkHalperin about TV news networks refusing to air Donald Trump’s primetime address. “So get off your frigging fainting couches and don’t tell me that we cannot listen to political leaders making false accusations about an election.” @RapidResponse47

Can someone please explain how Austin has become aggressively more socialist/communist/radical activist despite having 5+ years of documented influx of businesses and common sense people fleeing other socialist cities and states to come here? We used to have a shred of balance on city council and District Attorney and judicial system and school board…..but now, every elected official is progressive or far-left….all of them. How does that happen? I find it suspicious that the voter registrar of over 950,000 area residents is controlled by radical activist Celia Israel….

Lettuce was always a pointless vegetable. No meaningful nutrition. Ag Department should grant subsidizes to help farmers transition away from growing it. Total waste of resources in every way.
Cernovich@Cernovich

“No one wants to pick lettuce for $7 an hour, that’s a labor shortage!” Or maybe it’s because iceberg lettuce doesn’t have any nutrients the way hothouse leafy greens do. Maybe we don’t need as much, since people don’t value it enough to pay. Economics 101.

After EOD School I was assigned to Technical Escort Center, Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland. One day, I walked off post to a sub sandwich shop. Upon returning to post, a guy pulled up in a car and rolled his window down. He asked me why I wasn't in school. I was puzzled. Turns out, he was the local Truant Officer. I told him that I wasn't in school because I was in the Army. I told a friend Mike Campbell about it, and to this day, he still brings it up. I was 18 years old at that time. In this photo, I'm 19, an SP/4, and on my way to Vietnam. I guess if I looked this young at 19, I probably looked a little younger at 18 when the Truant Officer inquired. What I've realized is this -- no matter your age, if you work hard and focus on the present, you're just you. Looks and age become irrelevant.
