@alex_gayer All of this seems about right. I did a roundtrip cross-country drive a couple of years ago. Stats attached. My total charging time is high because I’d take advantage of the charging breaks to do work in between.

Here are my statistics: Trip Miles: 3,605 Total kWh: 1310.58 Wh/mi: 363.55 Total spent charging: $421.84 Avg. Cost per mile: $0.12 Avg. Cost per kWh: $0.32 Total Time Spent Supercharging: 10 hours 58 minutes (did not include destination charges)

Wowwwww Everyone in fintech has been saying that the Bilt credit card ($3.1B valuation) is too good to be true; How can you get cash back on rent payments? Turns out they have an unsustainable deal with Wells that is losing the bank hundreds of $millions. Wells made a number of incorrect assumptions in their underwriting. They assumed that it would be a top of wallet card for renters who carry balances. Instead, a lot of savvy consumers (myself included) use the bank for the minimum required to collect the rental points. Wells assumed that 65% of card-purchase volume would be non-rent, generating interchange-fee revenue. The reality is inverted... most of the volume is rent payments on which they don't earn much. Wells also assumed that 50-75% of the balances would be revolving, earning them interest. The reality is they mostly have cardholders like me who don't carry a balance - only 15-25% are revolving. Wells is paying 0.8% to Bilt on rent payments, even though the bank doesn't get interchange on them. Wells has a massive mortgage business and thought that they'd be able to cross-sell mortgages when the renters become homeowners but that hasn't panned out. Kudos to Bilt for negotiating a killer contract that doesn't expire until 2029... but I wonder what the future looks like after that. Wells says they won't renew it as-is. In the meantime - it's a great card... pay your rent via the card and make 5 other transactions a month to get 1% back on your rent.

Was getting some great efficiency in our trip: OH ➡️ Niagara Falls via the 401 so I decided to push it and skip the London SC and go all the way to the one in Brantford. A wicked 445km run with a fully loaded Model Y long range. Went from 99% to 1% (6km) SOC upon arrival. People saw EV’s don’t have enough range. We just went over 4 hours, 275 miles, stopped for dinner with dog mode on, and sat for 25 minutes to get through customs with the AC blasting. Tesla’s are road tripping machines!

@pokertrader829 @TesCalendar1 No, because what I’ve been saying from the start is that in order for it to be possible, you have to go less than the speed limit, and I know those stretches have a 70+ limit. I’ve done it many times.

@pokertrader829 @TesCalendar1 Again, it’s doable, just depends on a lot of factors. Here’s a route consisting of a driving speed of 65 mph and efficiency of 290 Wh/m with no charge stops. Note the car also has a reserve of about 5 miles of range.

Impressive that Xiaomi built a compelling car (& insane automated factory) in just 3 years. Xiaomi started in 2010, is the 3rd largest phone manufacturer & started the car division in 2021. We always talk about the importance of focus but Xiaomi (& other Chinese companies) do a bunch of things, seemingly all pretty well- they make vacuums, keyboards, monitors, scooters, watches, cameras, toothbrushes, rice cookers, shavers, sunglasses, pressure washers, TV’s, coffee machines, air fryers, flashlights, heaters, kettles, etc- generally considered to be of high quality. Baidu Alibaba Tencent Bytedance all have a ton of different businesses that don’t seem to be that linked… wonder how much of this is state linked- many of the large conglomerates get government capital.
