@sochiza @AJENews You’re slow! You should understand sarcasm Trump was shouting every single day how he has crippled Iranian military - which obviously is a lie

@_tolut @AJENews So Israel is lying? Is that what you're saying? Because from the pic accompanying the article Al Jazeera seems to suggest their source is Israeli TV....

@AJENews It’s a lie It’s very important Israel prevented this by striking Iran first - the “preemptive strike” and also trump already finished off Iran So its not true

@rationalaussie I have a feeling this whole story about taking the Strait + Islands is a ruse - suspect they're going to the center of power, Tehran. Probably take a few big guys hostage (Venezuela style), in the hope that this will "automatically open" the Strait...doubt that will work though

The US is gonna go for one of the smaller islands, then bomb the shit out of them at the same time this weekend and maybe even take a few of the leaders hostage. Something extremely brazen. Some real James Bond shit. Trump is 79 years old - not that many more years on Earth - and has always hated Iran. There is no way he doesn't do some insane shit here.

@okaythenfuture There will be no nuking, but I wouldn't be surprised if this war drags on for another yr or two. In fact both this and the war in Ukraine are just fronts in a world war developing in very slow motion...

Let's be real, this war is not ending tomorrow, this week, or even next week Trump will likely escalate the situation tonight in the States hence why all these other world leaders are getting ahead of the situation with their addresses to butter up their population. This war has reached such a severe state of lunacy and misguided ego that I would not rule out that a nuclear weapon may be used on Iran.

🚨🇷🇺🇮🇷🇺🇸 PUTIN ON IRAN: “Iran fulfilled all of its obligations under the well-known nuclear deal. All of them. Then U.S. President Trump unilaterally decided to withdraw from the agreement, while the Europeans were saying, ‘Yes, it’s bad that the Americans have withdrawn, but you Iranians must comply with everything’ I apologize if this sounds a bit rude, but what the hell are the Iranians supposed to comply with?”

@citrinowicz Looking at the draft legislation, it would appear this is indeed the route Iran has taken, which is very clever. They have already said that the Strait should be managed by themselves and Oman. Pays for rebuilding of their economy too...

It’s important to clarify how Iran is likely to frame its control over the Strait of Hormuz. From Tehran’s perspective, control over the Strait is not meant to signal disruption, but stability. Iran will likely argue to Gulf states that its presence actually guarantees freedom of navigation, not threatens it, because it has a direct economic interest in keeping maritime traffic flowing smoothly. In that sense, leveraging Hormuz (Point A) does not contradict outreach to Gulf states (Point F) — it complements it. Iran’s message will likely be: our control ensures security, protects shipping, and prevents escalation, not the other way around. The real question is whether Gulf states will accept this narrative. But there is little doubt that after the war, Iran will attempt to rebuild and deepen ties with Gulf countries , while simultaneously emphasizing its role as the dominant power securing the Strait.

An old one, but worth repeating: A Russian and an American strike up a conversation on a plane out of Moscow. The American asks: “How’s the propaganda here in Russia?” The Russian replies: “It’s everywhere, but easy to ignore.” He then adds: “Yours is much better, though.” The American protests: “But we don’t have any propaganda in America!” The Russian smiles: “Exactly.”

For those interested, here is the text of Article 5 of the 1949 Atlantic Treaty, or NATO charter: "The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area. Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security." Given Washington's constant whining about NATO not dancing to its tune, the following observations are in order for those who consider the NATO relevant to the current crisis: 1. Article 5 only applies if a NATO member is attacked, and only if that attack takes place "in Europe or North America". 2. The principle of collective self-defense enshrined in Article 5 cannot be invoked in support of a war in Asia initiated by a NATO member in the absence of an attack in Europe or North America. In 2001 it was invoked because the Al-Qaeda attacks were carried out in the United States. Additionally, Israel is not a NATO member and is for the application of Article 5 wholly irrelevant. 3. It is for individual NATO members, rather than the US or NATO, to determine what if any action they will take in fulfilment of their responsibilities under Article 5. 4. Any action taken by NATO members pursuant to Article 5 must be consistent with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. Wars of aggression are not recognized as a legitimate exercise of self-defense under the UN Charter. 5. The purpose of any action by NATO members pursuant to Article 5 must be "to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area". The claim that the security of this region was at issue is laughable, no matter how often Mark Dubowitz and FDD insist otherwise. 6. Pursuant to Article 5 the US was under an obligation to report the attack upon NATO territory in Europe or North America that caused it to invoke the assistance of NATO members to the UN Security Council. It didn't do so for the simple reason that there was no such attack. Mark Rutte can keep cheerleading "Daddy" and agitate for NATO participation in the war against Iran all he wants, but he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Trump is going to address US people Wednesday evening their time regarding Iran. Israel has said it no longer sees Iran as a threat. Trump has said he has nothing more to achieve in Iran while indicating US forces may withdraw soon. Either this can be a deception before escalation or as Trump administration seeing there is no way for them to win war with Iran and control Strait of Hormuz, they have realised it is better to withdraw and end this conflict. We would soon know whether it is deception before escalation or putting an end to the conflict which US and Israel cannot win. We'll hope for the best but not be carried away by euphoria as Trump is unreliable, lies a lot, difficult to differentiate between his genuine communication and manipulation.

🇲🇽🚨 Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum just made it clear: Mexico has every right to send fuel to Cuba, whether for humanitarian or commercial reasons. No apology. No hesitation. No asking permission. Washington has spent six decades telling the world who can trade with Cuba and who cannot. Mexico is saying that era is over. Sovereign nations make their own trade policy. They do not wait for a blockade to be lifted. They act. First Mexico restarts oil shipments. Now the President is putting the empire on notice. Cuba is not alone. Latin America is waking up. And the days of Washington dictating who gets fuel and who gets starved are coming to an end.

@FootballFunnys Serie A had better players. But the Premier League's brand of football was far more exciting. Both empirical facts.
