⚠️ Important #Yemen Update ⚠️ Saudi forces from Task Force 802 have not only withdrawn from their positions inside the Al-Ma’asheq Presidential Palace in Aden, but have also pulled out of their annex at the Badr Military Base inside Aden International Airport, as well as from Mayun Island (Perim) in the center of the Bab al-Mandab Strait. This aligns with earlier reporting from @BashaReport on today’s Saudi withdrawals from areas controlled by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council @STCSouthArabia (STC). Hadrami sources further indicate that Saudi forces in Sayoun, Hadramawt have begun preliminary withdrawal procedures. At present, Saudi units continue to maintain their presence at the Buriqa Coalition main base. ⚠️Should they withdraw from Buriqa, it would signal a major breakdown in communication between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh and further strain an already tense situation in areas under the internationally recognized government. Houthis are celebrating these developments and portraying them as Saudi Arabia responding to their repeated public calls to withdraw from Yemen in line with the @UN/@OSE_Yemen-led Road Map for peace, although to the best of my knowledge that is not the case. These withdrawals are not connected to Houthi demands but rather to the evolving situation in eastern Yemen, particularly in Hadramawt and Mahra.

A major geopolitical shift is underway in #Yemen. What’s amazing is how quickly #UAE-backed southern forces are gaining in the eastern governorates, right up to the border with #Oman (this video is from #Mahra in the far east). It smacks of a deal. A takeover would bring 2 major wins to UAE-backed southern separatists 1. Consolidation of their power in the south in advance of any deal Saudi might make with the Houthis in the north 2. Control of lucrative coastline, ports, energy resources, trade routes & strategic security locations
