@ritujoon2j @deepigoyal They can just buy Zomato stock. And get a share of profits or losses as well.
English

@deepigoyal I hope you will share some portion of the profit with them as well

Zomato and Blinkit delivered at a record pace yesterday, unaffected by calls for strikes that many of us heard over the past few days.
Support from local law enforcement helped keep the small number of miscreants in check, enabling 4.5 lakh+ delivery partners across both platforms to deliver more than 75 lakh orders (all-time high) to over 63 lakh customers during the day. This happened without any additional incentives for delivery partners - NYE does see higher incentives than usual days and yesterday was no different than the past NYE days.
I am grateful to local authorities across the country and to our teams on the ground for clear enforcement and swift coordination.
Most importantly, thank you to our delivery partners who showed up despite intimidation, stood their ground, and chose honest work and progress.
One thought for everyone: if a system were fundamentally unfair, it would not consistently attract and retain so many people who choose to work within it. Please don’t get swept up by narratives pushed by vested interests.
The gig economy is one of India’s largest organised job creation engines, and its real impact will compound over time, when delivery partners’ children, supported by stable incomes and education, enter the workforce and help transform our country at scale.

@eurofounder @mobster_hq I make more than that while sitting in India and listening to poo in the loo jokes.
English

@mobster_hq How on earth €47,000 a year is a mid tier salary? Are you insane?

Last year my son got a job offer from OpenAI in San Francisco
$450,000 total compensation
While my whole family was celebrating, I sat in my basement analyzing the offer
Something wasn't clicking for me
First of all, $450k is an impossible amount to make
Will my son be required to perform illegal activities to earn that salary?
But that's not the worst
I looked at pension contributions
"We offer a 401k match"
I had never heard of a 401k
I did some research and nearly vomited
It's a retirement account that depends on the stock market
His entire future would depend on gambling
I called the OpenAI recruiter on behalf of my son and declined the offer
Fast forward a year, my son now works at SAP making a crisp €47,000 a year
He has 32 days paid vacation and his pension is guaranteed by the state
My wife keeps saying I "threw his life away"
She could not be more wrong
I actually saved his life from being destroyed by America

@anulagarwal Great to know. Can you share some insights as how you find ideas which already have an audience and can be monetized as well?

I now make ~Rs. 1,20,000/mo passively through my collection of games & IOS apps as a solo developer👨💻
2 years ago, this number was 0.
1 year ago, it was 15% of value.
6 months ago, it was half.
I plan to double this in the next 3 months, with a diversified portfolio of mobile & web-apps.
One of my core-reasons to go solo indie mode is: I hate working with people.
In most cases they are slow and don’t have a vision/clarity on what to build.
I pay ~$225/mo in various tool subscriptions (AI tools + others) that help me build digital apps and games fast.
If you are someone who is planning to be an indie dev:
Run tiny experiments, build ideas into products, leverage social media, create content - do as much as you can, learn from each process - instead of just consuming content and brain rotting.

@VazeKshitij Thanks for the inspiration. Good luck for your journey ahead, although I am sure you will not need luck

What a privilege it is to wake up and show up to work lads. This is a long one, but bear with me please.
4 months ago, I was at a job that required me to be there from 9-7, Monday to Saturday. Add the travel time and it was more like 8-8. On top of that, the job I was doing there and what was on the JD during the interviews was miles apart. On top of THAT, people weren't getting paid for 2-3 months. It was pretty much hell for me. No physical activity, no games or sport, I was putting on kilos by the week, it wasn't looking good.
So, I took a decision. I quit the next day after I got my first month's salary. No backup, no on-going interviews, no nothing. I remember, my boss there said to me - maybe engineering isn't for you.
I packed up and moved back to Mumbai. Forced my parents to set up a WiFi connection, that I was adamant on paying for. That was also the first time in my life that I had WiFi at my house. Yeah, I know.
Then, it was cold DMs and LinkedIn texts all day every day. I was revising my concepts, honing my craft as an embedded systems and software engineer, and trying to talk to people about any openings that I could work at. And I have to say this - @Av1dlive helped me during this time a lot more than what I can put in words.
3 weeks into this, and I had my first offer. The next day, another one. 3 days later, the third. I had accepted one, and was all set to move to Bangalore. The PG was booked, the flight tickets were arranged, groups for football were found and entered - it was all good to go. And then, the 4th one called.
I remember, it was the day before Rakshabandhan. I took a bus from Mumbai to Pune at 6:35 AM in the morning. The interview was at 11, and my dumbass was there by 9:30.
The interviews started, managers couldn't believe that I graduated barely 3 months ago, they actually believed that I was from the batch of 2024. 4 rounds of interviews later, I was done there. I was clinging on to dear life in a state transport bus, when the CTO and the HR executive in charge for my hiring called me - I was hired.
Lads, I come from a severe shortage of money you see, it's unfathomable for most and I hope it stays that way. The job I work allows me, for the first time in a decade and half, to not worry about the next meal. That takes some time to get used to, you know!
Anyway, that's all for the Monday morning motivation, lol. I gotta go get dressed. If you've read so far...thank you for your time. It feels good to know that someone heard my ramblings on the interwebs.

@kmeanskaran Just trying to get some inspiration. What does your stats look like? Number of subscribers, reads etc

@merrymeditation To be honest pretty slow till now. Hope to pick up speed up progress in the coming days. Will be posting updates here!
English

@softmaxenjoyer What a surprise. I had this goal for this year myself. How have you been developing in this regard?
English

@wojakcodes If you have fun partying, feel free to party.
If you have fun staying at home and doing whatever, stay home.
Things need not be that complicated.
English

@rajvishah30 That's because indian taxpayers massively subsidise rail travel.
English

@realankush This is because of all tom dick harry influencers that promote you can just earn 70LPA right after college with just a generic MERN stack skillset and 500 leetcode problems solved. And the same influencers then sell courses of the same.
Mean fresher salary is still around 4LPA.
English

Seeing folks making wild baseless claims like "me and my friends deserve 15+ LPA"
Being confident is one thing, but being entitled is another.
Seeing people wanting(demanding) 1-2L/month waiting jobless for 2 years, and those starting with free real work climbing up the ladder.
Your skills and knowledge is definitely a big portion of your worth, but so is experience. If you have not worked on something similar before, it's unlikely that you will be trusted or valued at this new role.
Would you hire a cook who went through a generic course but never cooked anything good for others? Even if you do, you'll start them off on a lower salary on trial basis. It's the same thing with interships/early career. Build actual proof.
English

People think they can save time by not going to the gym or doing any physical activity, and spend that on work instead to get ahead. But actually, your performance at work is highly correlated with how healthy you are physically. When I focus on my health, my mind is automatically more clear and I can focus more deeply.

I have been in this industry for over a decade. From what I have noticed, the companies which want only immediate joiners are
1. Have very high attrition. People are constantly moving out of these companies because of culture, work load or something else, hence they always have to find their replacement. Usually in a service based setup, they have to find a replacement fast hence they focus on immediate joiners.
2. Pay way less than the market standards. So they fear that people in the 60 or 90 days notice will find a better paying job, which they won't be able to match.
Previously I used to feel frustrated about my 60 days notice. But now I feel it acts as a good filter to remove these shitty companies. Good companies which focus on getting the best employees are willing to wait for them to join.
cutie@acnymph
Software ppl in India, how are you switching companies? Recruiters are hanging up when they hear notice period to be 45-60 days, they want immediate joiners only usually. Can't resign without an offer, can't serve notice period with an offer. What is the solution?
