I know this advice violates the “VCs don’t do anything” meme, but having an operationally savvy VC help you handle these exits can save an enormous amount of brain damage. Not because you can’t do it but because you don't need to waste the calories. These situations are often irrationally emotional. Having someone neutral and detached often makes it far easier for everyone involved.
