Few, if any, accused her of being an antisemite because she said killing kids in Gaza is wrong. Everyone knows that. She was accused of being an antisemite because she focuses on Gaza at the expense of any number of other atrocities. She advances the belief -- by now, religion among progressives and a growing number of woke-rightists -- that there is something uniquely pernicious about Israel doing battle with terrorists (who, tragically, often hide behind children). You know all this, no doubt, but, in the service of your own brand-building, prefer to tweet the thing that will reaffirm your followers' previously held beliefs.

Ms. Rachel is insanely popular among 2 and 3 year olds. AIPAC went after Ms. Rachel as an anti-semite because she said that killing kids in Gaza is wrong. Her response was to teach every toddler in the English speaking world to count to ten in Arabic. She's a badass.

Eating pizza outside in Georgetown on this gorgeous Saturday evening, as hundreds of people parade down M Street waving the old Iranian flag and chanting “USA USA!” God bless America. God bless the people of Iran.

Said it before & will say it again: dead languages are the only non-scientific discipline where there are objectively correct & incorrect answers to the test & therefore the only humanities discipline that serves as an IQ test like hard science majors do. Once Latin/Greek stopped being a mandatory part of the humanities, humanities stopped being a credible signal of intelligence, and therefore the negative signaling signal group guaranteed that it would become a loser discipline (obviously the politics didn’t help).

This seems like a good time to remind you that a black student in Mississippi is 2.5X more likely to read proficiently by 4th grade than if he or she lived in California. We would be happy to send one of our reading coaches to assist you, @GavinNewsom. Learning is a lifelong journey, and you might achieve some of the gains that our black fourth graders have. Incidentally, one nice feature of increased literacy is that you do not have to fall back on vulgarity to seem passionate. Let me know!
Gavin Newsom@GavinNewsom

You didn’t give a shit about the President of the United States of America posting an ape video of President Obama or calling African nations shitholes — but you’re going to call me racist for talking about my lifelong struggle with dyslexia? Spare me your fake fucking outrage, Sean.

Perhaps the most alarming Mellon initiative has been its Humanities for All Times project. Launched in 2021, it is explicitly about using the humanities to create "social justice leaders." It offers 7 figures to small colleges in exchange for changing their gen ed curriculum. 8/

Conservatives often offer "go woke, go broke" as an explanation for the humanities crisis. This theory gets the causal arrow wrong. The humanities went woke in part BECAUSE they were broke. They became more reliant on Mellon money and had to toe the ideological line to get it. 5/
