The problem of industrialisation of #WestBengal is not “land”. It is the work culture and ecosystem destroyed over 5 decades. Left created a Lumpen Proletariat now it’s only Lumpen who move from one party to another. No government can change it overnight. People know it.
Industrialist Aditya Birla was assaulted and humiliated in Kolkata during the early 1970s. Birla was dragged from his car between GPO & RBI, opposite the Writers' Building, thrashed, stripped to his undergarments and forced to walk to his office at 15 India Exchange Place, amid a jeering crowd. Birla went to his office, took the next flight & never returned to Calcutta. He took his entire business out of West Bengal. This was the result of Red Terror that targeted business houses. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee should know the reasons why there are no industries in WB. Didn't she force TATAs out of Singur?
I know we cannot replicate China or Singapore model in India. At the same time, these two countries imposed death penalties for food adulteration, spurious drugs and many other crimes which is considered normal in India. Unless we bring serious punishment for crimes and actually implement it, very difficult to grow as a nation. Not only our netas and babus, as a society, we are extremely corrupt.
