Respect @BenFerencz twitter.com/McKayMSmith/st…

Reminder #1000 that ID age verification laws are getting passed extremely fast in virtually all governments. This is an organized attempt at destroying our privacy
Proton VPN@ProtonVPN

Age verification is moving off websites and into your operating system (yes, even you, Linux). California just passed a law requiring it. The UK already has it. More states are following. Here's why that's a much bigger deal than it sounds. 🧵 1/6

the fact that ai drove people to vote for the communist party because their newspaper is available ungated online is going to be one of the most interesting trends of 2030s politics
Phryne Astynome@PAstynome

The most trusted newspaper in Japan is the Shimbun Akahata which is the Japanese Communist Party’s newspaper. They did the investigative journalism on the LDP’s slush fund scandal in 2024 and ended up destroying Shinzo Abe’s faction and causing complete chaos for the LDP.

This is where they don't wont you to believe your own eyes. Minnesota wanted to investigate. The FBI took over. Then cut Minnesota out entirely. The state no longer has access to the evidence, the witnesses or the scene. The ICE agent who killed Renee Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, in Minneapolis on January 7 will face no criminal charges. The DOJ ruled it justified self-defense. DHS said Good "weaponized her vehicle." Video analysis showed her car was turning away from the agent when he fired. A family autopsy found she was shot in the head. Minnesota wanted to investigate but the FBI took sole control within hours, cutting state investigators out of the evidence and scene. Vice President Vance said the agent had "absolute immunity." The shooting was the first homicide in Minneapolis in 2026 and the ninth time ICE agents opened fire on people since September 2025. The agent, Jonathan Ross, is an Iraq War veteran who was dragged by a car during a separate arrest six months earlier. Good's killing sparked national protests and triggered the ongoing DHS shutdown. No independent investigation was conducted.

I’ve been screaming about this for years - if the left in europe refuses to capitalise on American decline by pushing for decoupling from the US - as a core foreign policy pitch on their agenda - then the right eventually will. It’s a perfect popular argument to couple with class conscious politics - european sovereignty and an independent path. It ticks all the principled AND practical boxes and will only grow in popularity.

The PrSM is the missile that replaced the ATACMS…for about 3 times the cost. The ATACMS was the weapon all the retired generals on the payrolls of the weapons companies told the US media would win the war in Ukraine. The ATACMS didn’t win the war in Ukraine, but it did kill children on a beach in Crimea… The PrSM missile won’t win the war on Iran, but it will make more money for the weapons companies than the ATACMS. That keeps weapons companies, and their retired generals, happy while preserving the unmatched capability of the US-Israeli coalition to kill children. Who says the military industrial complex doesn’t know what it is doing?

First it was Black Mirror, now it’s just Monday in Atlanta. A company called Undaunted raised nearly $1M this February to flood Atlanta with these "pack" patrols. They are called private security "packs" and now patrol ATL streets. These autonomous dogs are controlled by remote pilots, equipped with thermal vision, and carry sirens loud enough to stop you in your tracks. The policy shift happened quietly: property managers are replacing human guards with these AI-synced bots at half the cost. In one DeKalb complex, they’ve already cleared out crime and doubled occupancy. Safety or Scifi Nightmare?
