Wow! I am so, so humbled. Nothing like this is possible without amazing collaborators, mentors, and colleagues💚 Deep thanks to everyone that makes research so fun & rewarding 🫂 Dunno why scholar doesn't show info since my 1st paper in 2015 (has it really almost been 10 years?)

What's the best loss to train a quantum generative model? Take a look at our new work: arxiv.org/abs/2305.02881 Punchline: ⛔️ Don't use KL Divergence. ⛔️ Don't use the MMD with a constant bandwidth ☑️ Use the MMD with a range of O(1) to O(n) bandwidths See 🧵👇

What makes quantum generative models trainable? And can trainable loss functions be used to reliably learn complicated data distributions? Find out in our new group's first push into the field of generative QML. arxiv.org/abs/2305.02881 scirate.com/arxiv/2305.028… 1/8 🧵

At the last job interview, I was asked if I had any questions: "I said: I liked that in EU academics there is even encouragement to collaborate in-house. Yet in the US system, there is often an implicit rule against faculty collaborations. What are your thoughts on this?"

Here is some recent work with @shurioque & @diegochav3z on neuromorphic algorithms for two’s complement binary encoding. For high-resolution numerical encoding, our methods give logarithmic improvements relative to firing rates.
Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering@IOPneuromorphic

@shurioque @sornborg & @diegochav3z (@LosAlamosNatLab, @nmsu, @NMSU_engineer) construct a neuromorphic, binary matrix multiplication algorithm that may be used as a primitive for linear differential equation integration, deep networks, and more. Read it at iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…
