Ghana really is pulling a fast one aren’t they? First they got paid for all the slaves they sold (until Britain stopped them) and now they want to get paid compensation for the existence of slavery by the people who stopped them doing it. Anybody in Parliament who even hints at “reparations” is in my mind a straight up traitor. I, a taxpayer, don’t owe foreign scammers a penny.

@soufsidebuner Not sure what point you are trying to make unless it was to prove what I posted is correct. Students without a COE (often francophones or allophones) attending English colleges must now pass the French Exit Exam (EUF) instead of the English one to graduate, as of Fall 2023.

You cannot graduate from any college in Quebec without passing a mandatory governmental English test;/ English is forced until uni. Half of the province don’t go to college

Mr. Rousseau is expressing what millions of Canadians who don’t know french and have tried to learn it feel. What I am tired of is that a few elites (in Ontario primarily) get to tell the 80% of Canadians who don’t speak french fluently that we need to sit on the sidelines. It’s time for a conversation about what 2 official languages actually means. What’s transpired over the last few days is not about the communication or language but about control.

Everything about official bilingualism in Canada is built on myth. People can’t “just learn” a language they don’t need. Canada isn’t “built on” two equally-sized language groups. Bilingualism isn’t “necessary” to function at an elite level. It’s all just Laurentian folklore.
