[NEW RESEARCH] People with #LongCOVID and #MECFS have similar impaired vascular function Endothelial cells are the cells that make up the inner lining of blood vessels. These cells are involved in the exchange of blood contents (oxygen, nutrients, hormones, etc) and surrounding tissues. Long #COVID and ME/CFS are associated with vascular dysfunction, possibly contributing to persistent symptoms. A proposed mechanism of post-viral syndrome involves inflammatory damage and dysfunction to the endothelial cells, leading to microclots and decreasing blood flow to tissues. This mechanism may cause symptoms of #fatigue, #brainfog, and pain. This study compared flow-mediated dilation values between people with ME/CFS, Long COVID, and healthy controls. Compared to controls, the results revealed significantly impaired endothelial function in Long COVID and ME/CFS. Also, there was no difference between flow-mediated dilation between ME/CFS and Long COVID, despite longer illness duration in the ME/CFS group. These findings may provide an avenue for treatment to improve fatigue, brain fog, and pain symptoms. This test measured the dilation of a blood vessel, but we also see increased coagulation in people with chronic inflammation. 5/n ME sufferers can sometimes be active for a period of time and above their body's normal limits thanks to adrenaline rushes, but at the price of a severe and sometimes even persistent worsening of the illness afterwards. The extra activity that adrenaline enables causes damage

#MECFS might be unique in that overexertion can chronically worsen your condition: Patients unknowingly inflict permanent damage on themselves, often without making the connection or following doctor's orders. 90% of my baseline worsening crashes could have easily been avoided.
