Valve has updated its Steam pricing tools for developers. They now offer three ways to set regional prices for games: - Simple currency exchange rate - Purchasing power parity (based on what people can actually afford) - A mix of multiple data sources For a $60 USD game, this can mean very different prices in other countries, like €51, €43, or €62 in parts of Europe. The change is optional. Existing games stay the same unless updated.

Oh My Gotto, Isa thato, Based?
@Pirat_Nation How in God's name is the euro worth more in one region and less worth in others? Every country using the Euro as a currency has the same purchasing power with said Euro. The only difference in pricing would be if different regions used their own currency and not the Euro.

Sony is reportedly working on its own dedicated PC launcher for PlayStation games. >PSN account to play, let Sony keep 100% of the revenue instead of giving a cut to Steam >Possibly block their titles from running on Microsoft’s upcoming Project Helix hybrid console. >The first major title to use this approach could be Marvel’s Wolverine. Sony has not made any official statement yet.

I don't think people actually miss blocks (data on literally every block shows this), they miss how Magic felt when blocks were a thing.

one of the funniest thing about the Japanese stance on piracy is that, they will seriously say: if it isn't legally available in your area, it might as well not exist at all; and Don't even try obtaining it

Listen if youre a fan of tmnt thats great I hope you enjoy this set! however this is one of the if not the worst mtg sets I have been in my entire life playing MTG. The art is rubbish, the cards are rubbish, half of it is fucking pizza or something. Like I understand maybe its not for me because im not a tmnt fan, but it just seems like such a slop set??? I did not even think there were enough tmnt fans to justify a whole tmnt set. Why didnt they do like what they did with transformers and just add on some cards to a mtg drop like brothers war did?

@GameorGrift @SandyofCthulhu In this day and age it is inexcusable that we don't have official pc emus with storefronts for ps1, nes, snes, and others. I think genesis games are sold on steam but dunno what's the deal there. Charge 15 bucks for a 30 year old game, I don't care, but give us something!

I am a man who hates piracy with every fiber of my being. I have seen companies I loved and men I admired destroyed by game piracy. I detest all the excuses and facile lies used to justify piracy. I hereby state that if you are using an emulator to play a game you cannot play otherwise; I do not count it as piracy. Go forth and play Panzer Dragoon with my blessing.

"I emulate games." "That's just piracy bro." "I emulate them so I can play without paying." "Oh my god, just say you support piracy." "I support piracy." "Woooooow you're not even hiding it anymore."

YouTube’s business model depends heavily on advertising. Ad blockers directly reduce revenue not just for YouTube, but for creators as well. YouTube has intensified its enforcement against ad blockers, and the shift is no longer subtle. In recent weeks, many users have reported that comment sections appear as “turned off,” video descriptions are missing, and certain interface features behave abnormally. At first glance, these issues resemble technical glitches. However, the pattern is increasingly clear: once an ad blocker is disabled, the missing features immediately return. This strongly suggests that the platform is deliberately restricting functionality when ad-blocking software is detected. The reasoning behind this move is economic. YouTube operates on an advertising-driven model. Hosting billions of videos, maintaining global data centers, running AI moderation systems, and supporting creators worldwide requires enormous financial resources. Advertising revenue funds this ecosystem. When users block ads, they directly impact not only YouTube’s income but also the earnings of content creators. From a corporate perspective, widespread ad blocking represents revenue erosion at scale. Previously, YouTube responded to ad blockers with warning pop-ups or temporary playback restrictions. The current approach is more strategic. Instead of fully blocking access, the platform appears to degrade the user experience by disabling comments and hiding descriptions. This tactic creates frustration and confusion, subtly encouraging users to disable their blockers voluntarily. It is a form of behavioral nudging less confrontational, but arguably more effective. Legally, YouTube is within its rights. As a private platform owned by Google, it sets its own terms of service. While using an ad blocker is not illegal in most jurisdictions, platforms are not obligated to provide full functionality to users who interfere with their monetization systems. This situation reflects the broader tension between user autonomy and platform sustainability in the digital economy. Importantly, there is currently no reliable workaround. Detection methods appear more dynamic and possibly server-side, making traditional bypass techniques less effective. Users seeking stability face two consistent options: disable ad blockers or subscribe to Premium. In essence, this development is not merely about advertising; it is about control and sustainability. YouTube is signaling that it will aggressively defend its revenue model, even at the cost of user experience. The era of effortless ad blocking on major platforms may be fading.
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

YouTube is escalating its crackdown on ad blockers. Many users report that comment sections now appear as "turned off" on videos, and video descriptions are missing entirely. The issue stems from ad blocker detection; disabling the extension immediately restores both features. No reliable workaround exists yet beyond turning off ad blockers or subscribing to Premium.

This really sucks. Sorry to hear it and I hope everybody manages to find jobs elsewhere. I don't know what this industry has to do differently, but this just feels completely unsustainable. We cannot have these crazily long development times any more. Games are costing too much.

It’s hard to properly convey everything that runs through my brain when I see something like this. Here’s the bullet points: - It’s not surprising - It was yet another live service shooter - It went out similar to Concord - Concord was $40, this was free - Another case of “from the developers of *insert popular game* comes a new studio and IP - It didn’t have a wildly unique art/character appeal - It was the “one last thing” moment at The Game Awards - It was not a bad game - Many were not only disinterested, but actively rooted for its failure for entertainment It would be easy to come to the conclusion that “no one wants this live service slop, so quit trying” but that isn’t true. - It’s not slop, it’s a well crafted game by a talented team - Many do want live service (Fortnite, Arc Raiders, Apex: Legends, Overwatch, Marvel Rivals) - It’s potentially far more profitable than any AAA single player game could ever be So what is the take away? Highguard was a familiar looking live service title that people assumed would fail right away. It had a bad spot at The Game Awards, people clowned on it and despite being a quality game, “good” is not enough anymore. Yet, live service games (even familiar ones like Arc and Marathon being Tarkov or Marvel Rivals being Overwatch) still have the potential and the appeal to really go places. The only thing I can say is, we’re nowhere near the end of seeing more games like this, it’s too profitable to not try, but it’s also the killing blow if every star doesn’t align. It just makes me sad. I’m a single player only gamer, so none of this appeals to me, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. There’s plenty for me to play and seeing failure brings me no joy.
