Why do you conceal carry?

OK, since it appears that today is the day to discuss weird cultural differences between Japan and the USA, may I strongly recommend to all of my military history nerd followers that you watch “Girls und Panzer”? It’s anime from Japan. You can find it on Amazon Prime. Bear with me while I explain the insane premise. It’s about Japanese all-girls schools that engage in the sport of “tankery.” These schoolgirls ride around in historically accurate, WWII-era armored fighting vehicles and engage in active combat that appears to include actual HEAT and sabot rounds, except when there is a hit nobody gets hurt and a little white flag pops out of the dead tank. So there is this big tankery tournament. But here’s where it gets even weirder: each school has the vehicles, resources, tactics and uniforms of a WWII combatant. So the US-style school has wayyyyy more logistics than anybody else, the Soviet school goes roaring across the steppes (see the video one comment post below) and the German school has the best tanks that break down a lot. Also the British school takes war breaks to drink tea. Why would I recommend such a silly concept? Because whoever did it went to a fanatical level of detail on the vehicles themselves and the associated tactics and employment, as well as very accurate propaganda themes from the era. It’s so incongruous—highly accurate military history and Japanese schoolgirl anime. And I love incongruity in entertainment. It’s so silly, but in a weirdly addictive way. And I don't even watch anime.

You treat an entire profession like garbage for decades. You go out of your way to call them civilians. You refuse to put defensive systems on their ships and send them into active combat defenseless. The young, motivated people all quit. Then you’re shocked when what’s left doesn’t meet your standards. So you yell at the survivors to make themselves “combat efficient” on zero training budget. You yell at the old people “you want to be taken seriously, get your asses in shape” No, Blake. The U.S. Merchant Marine isn’t “fat old boozy pirates.” We have young, fit professionals doing the most mentally demanding offshore work on the planet. They just refuse to work for the Navy. Because of exactly this attitude from Naval Officers like you. Let’s go Blake. Let’s go @FarvaPrice. Get out of that bubble and come with me to the US Merchant Marine Academy, let’s visit @MaritimeCollege, come up to Mass Maritime. Come see all the not fat, not old, not drunk, not lazy, high IQ midshipmen doing more physically demanding, more academically demanding work than USNA at the top of their game who refuse to work for the Navy because ya’ll give us zero respect. Or we can go visit the fit, young, groomed, motivated Federal Service Academy @UsmmaO midshipmen floating and under fire aboard five USMM ships in the Persian Gulf right now because your DDGs refuse to leave the safety of the Arabian gulf to go in and escort them out. Or I can introduce you to the mothers of those young midshipmen - merchant Mariners yes but also Navy Reserve brothers like you - who are on their knees praying everyday your Navy will do their legal obligations and go protect their sons and daughters. What Blake. What exactly do you think those young mids are going to tell their classmates when (or IF) they get back to campus? You think they are going to have nice things to say about the Navy that cut tail and ran out of the Persian Gulf without them?? F YOU F ALL YOU NAVY PRICKS

We have gathered at the Pentagon for our monthly worship service. One Nation Under God.

The good of Cesar Chavez cannot be reconciled with the abuse by Chavez against children & adults. Any public recognition should be urgently removed. As an office that prosecutes sex offenders & sits on the road named for him I find it offensive for our victims who may come here.
