I am concerned by new data from @educationgovuk which shows that nearly 1.2 million children in England have SEN support without an EHCP – up 4.7% from 2022.
We need urgent reform of the SEND system to improve the life chances of England’s children.

@PookyH What it takes is providing a variety of school structures for those who struggle with MS, intentionally improving CAMHs and giving professionals time to invest in keeping children in schools that work for them. Curriculum has been prioritised over community, ethos and inclusion.

Steve Chalke@SteveChalke
When a child has a physical illness we get exactly why it might be impossible for them to be in school. But when their issue is mental health, instead of understanding their struggle, society assumes they’re lazy & bunking off, and accuses them of being ‘school refusers’. Why?

There's been a disastrous loss of experienced teachers from the profession and not enough people are aware of it, or talking about it.
Even more worrying, not enough is being done to stop the over-50s leaving.
