@AdamSimecka @BrianDeMint You could have square convert your payments to 100% BTC. Might be a 1% fee not sure

@BrianDeMint Right. I'm just saying I think I'd rather just do bitcoin only if the swing was so dramatic.

If you were a business, would it make sense to offer a 75% discount when customers paid in BTC?

Getting set to build encrypted chat feature into @split_rewards . Couple ideas I always wanted to see that can’t find anywhere else. 1. User can set a sat fee to receive a message outside of contact list. 2. Group chat admins could set sat fee to join and sat fee to post.

@AaronRDay You're assuming I use stablecoins to pay for stuff. Sorry, I still use cash. Cold, hard, cash.

THEY BANNED THE NAME CBDC BUT BUILT THE SYSTEM ANYWAY Congress banned a government digital dollar. Then they passed the GENIUS Act, which requires every private stablecoin to do the exact same thing. You got played. 1/ $320 billion in stablecoins now operate under the Bank Secrecy Act. Full KYC. FinCEN reporting. Issuers must block, freeze, and reject transactions on command 2/ Tether: $184B. Custodied by Cantor Fitzgerald. CEO Howard Lutnick is now Trump's Commerce Secretary. He profits on every dollar held 3/ USD1: $4.6B. Trump's family owns 60% of World Liberty Financial and takes 75% of revenue. A UAE royal family bought 49% days before inauguration 4/ All three -- Tether, USDC, USD1 -- are backed by US Treasuries. That means every stablecoin dollar funds government debt while the government tracks every transaction They didn't kill the CBDC. They privatized it. The surveillance is identical. The profit just goes to the President's family and his Commerce Secretary.

LATEST: @Mastercard breaks down how its crypto cards will allow small businesses to accept crypto. Mastercard crypto cards will let users pay with crypto while the transaction is processed in fiat on the Mastercard network behind the scenes.

🗺️The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) highlights the prohibiting or denying of licenses to platforms that allow transfers to "unhosted wallets" as a measure to combat illicit finance risks, per its latest report. The report recommends that identity verification be required before any "unhosted wallet" can transact — and that issuers proactively monitor the location and use of their stablecoins in the secondary market, meaning after they leave the issuer entirely. It further recommends that governments require stablecoin issuers to embed blacklists, whitelists, and freeze functions directly into their smart contracts.

@metamick14 We released our Bitcoin rewards setup about a month ago, added an onramp last week, shipping Lightning addresses this week. Hoping to add NWC and possibly Payjoin in the next 2 release cycles. Hoping to ship Android version in 3-4 weeks. #SpendBitcoin

A LN invoice payment is so much simpler than a card payment. No vulnerable info is passed back and forth between parties and the submission of the payment to the network actually comes from the customer’s wallet not the merchant’s device. This removes a lot of the heavy security requirements that come with card payments.

@MichaelOnBTC @w_s_bitcoin @Square Tap to pay is technically super simple. Just passing the LN invoice data via nfc. Paywave is extreme overkill for this imo. We could add this feature to our wallet in a few days but nothing else in BTC payments is compatible with it.

Hey @square, take it or leave it. I think something like this would be a dope customer facing bitcoin payments UX. Having to ask the merchant to click the bitcoin button on their side is a little clunky.
Wicked@w_s_bitcoin

@milessuter Is there a reason y'all decided not to make the bitcoin payment selection on the payer side? It'd be way better UX if they didn't even have to ask the merchant to pay in bitcoin and could just press a little bitcoin symbol in the corner of the screen to enable it.

The truth is, I built Geyser for myself. I'm sending hundreds of thousands of sats per month to support Bitcoin initiatives, causes, and to buy new products. ... The sats must flow! 😜
