Massie lost by a landslide ten thousand vote margin. Gallrein 57,822 votes (54.9%), Massie 47,539 votes (45.1%). According to longtime acquaintance JD Vance, Massie lost because he went off the rails after his highschool sweetheart and wife suddenly passed away a year and a half ago and he began voting against the party on everything. Joel’s take here is sharp. Massie knew it was coming. He was repeatedly warned the party would turn its back on him if he turned his back on it. But he became rigid in his isolationist views.
