🟥 France is set to deliver the world’s first on-chain IPO! On 9 April, ST Group, an aerospace subcontractor based near Toulouse, will go public on the new Lise exchange. This platform combines MTF and CSD functions on a single blockchain infrastructure. Lise’s shareholders include @BNPParibas, @CACEIS (@CreditAgricole) and @Bpifrance. In practice, investors register, make a wire transfer that is automatically converted into tokenised deposits, and subscribe in one click. Minimum ticket: just one share. No subscription or custody fees on the primary issuance. An investment bank and institutional investors are involved. This is a genuine IPO process, not crowdfunding, except everything happens on the blockchain. “ST Group would never have done an IPO on a traditional market. It is too heavy and too expensive for an SME,” says Lise CEO @kepeneghian “For once, we are bringing an equity solution to a French industrial SME. Blockchain technology is the real answer to the structural financing problem for SMEs.” Neither @Securitize in the US nor @sixgroup in Switzerland has reached this milestone. I've been doing a bad job recently with regard to transparency, public trust, and community alignment. That’s on me. It’s been greatly requested that we provide more transparency related to our pending flywheel (FW). When Believe’s volume surged in May, I didn’t even know what a flywheel was. Honestly, we simply weren’t prepared to be one of the leading platforms in the space. I had to move fast and surround myself with people who had experience launching similar mechanisms at scale. Believe is now working with a team widely regarded as the best in the space for this kind of work (we’re intentionally not naming them here). To launch a flywheel in a compliant way, a specific corporate structure is required. Setting up that structure involves several prerequisites that are being expedited as much as possible. We’re now in the final innings of the process. If I knew what I know now, candidly we would have waited to launch a coin, so that we could have a FW from Day 1. I know that this has been a painfully long experience for our community and that we’ve been very poor on communication. I apologize for that. The lack of communication has damaged the trust that people have placed in us. It is on us to earn your trust back, and it will take time to do so. Once our flywheel is live, I believe it will set the gold standard for what’s expected from crypto projects. Every project with a live coin should have an attached flywheel—it’s the obvious future. Thanks to all for the input so far. We’re still so early.

One area of crypto mkt structure that seems very opaque and weird to me still is market maker <> token issuer / foundation relationships. I would guess this is responsible for a lot more issues than it gets credit for. Feels like in the last year there have been several "our market maker fucked us" stories that just disappear and nobody ever knows what actually happened. About a month ago, some token crashed like 90% and then the founder wrote some long thread saying "wintermute did it to us" and then nothing happened. Am surprised there is no solution for this yet: maybe founders should have to publish/disclose the terms of their MM deals, CEXs can formalise some standards which bar listings, or maybe there is some other solution that ppl smarter than me can invent. I guess you want (1) token buyers have info symmetry on the incentive structure of the MM deal and (2) founders dont keep getting scammed by dodgy MMs or nonstandard agreements. Pic related.
