@WilliamShatner I think you may have a very narrow view of what counts as "political". Basically everything is political. The "social issues" you refer to in the 1960s were political too, often being directly linked to legislation.
"Politics" refers to more than disagreements between parties.

🙄 No, Star Trek was about society’s social issues of the 1960’s. Those issues over the years may have become political issues but with the network censors: they never would have allowed political issue storylines to air.

That is an absurd thing for someone like @WilliamShatner to say. The original Star Trek was INCREDIBLY political even by the standards of its time. The main difference between it and most sci-fi properties, though, is that its progressivism is universalist in nature.
