In what world is FFXVI a finished game in a way that FFXV somehow isn't?
FFXVI has no party, FFXV does
FFXVI has no cities to explore, FFXV does
FFXVI has no dungeons to explore or find, FFXV does
FFXVI has no weapon system or weapon attributes, FFXV does
FFXVI has no elemental system, FFXV does
FFXVI has no magic system, FFXV has multiple
FFXVI has practically no RPG systems, FFXV has as many as the classic FF's, hell it even has multiple hidden stats and mechanics too
FFXVI has no optional areas to explore, FFXV does and has an actual sense of exploration
FFXVI has only one combo string the entire game, FFXV has over 20 on Noctis alone with much more engaging Action mechanics
FFXVI has no minigames, FFXV has multiple with fishing alone being more fun than any "sidequest" in XVI
FFXVI has no vehicles to pilot/control, FFXV has multiple which all contribute to selling the scale of the world and the journy
FFXVI has nothing to find or do outside the main story, you just find 2 gil and buy nothing while FFXV has a ton of optional side content to delve into, from party camp quests, to optional dungeons, to weapon upgrading that matters, gear for the party to finding new weapon types that expand the combat, unlocking new party techniques, upgrading the car, finding new food recipes, etc
Every single sidequest in XVI is terrible and is a generic MMO fetch quest, literally any optional dungeon sidequest in XV is better than XVI's main story sequences, then the camp party sidequests which are unique to the different party members also are better than any sidequest in XVI, and any minigame sidquest also better than any sidequest in XVI
FFXVI has no final dungeon at all
FFXVI is also literally empty as fuck with nothing in its supposed "world" while XV has more to see and do in its world than any FF
FFXVI has majority of the story happen offscreen or between timeskips that are never explained in dialogue or cutscenes, the FFXVI DLC was literal cut content, FFXV still explains the core main story in base game while the DLC are self contained side stories
There is more explanation given to Gladio leaving the party and returning, Ignis's injury and Prompto's whereabouts during those parts of the story in base FFXV than anything regarding what Clive did in the timeskips, Joshua's actions and how he survived Phoenix Gate, or what happened to Jill in XVI, let alone the backstories of characters like Anabella, Hugo, Benedikta or Barnabas being completely non existent in any cutscene or dialogue.
Don't even get me into Ardyn being among the best villains FF has ever had with a ton of charisma, commanding screen presence and fun personality then to XVI Ultima being the worst most nothing villain we've ever had, an actual fucking void of any character or personality whatsoever.
Lunafreya in XV does more than Jill ever does in XVI, hell even Shiva in FFXV does more than Jill ever accomplishes in XVI as Shiva, despite Jill having plenty of screentime she does jack shit and is treated like garbage by the plot, on the flipside the issue with Lunafreya isn't her writing but simply that they didn't give her the screentime she deserved, because she is integral to the story events that happen.
Most importantly FFXVI doesn't even have an actual ending while FFXV has the most emotionally impactful ending in the franchise.
The photo system in FFXV alone is a more innovative narrative tool than anything XVI tries to do, one that also serves as not only part of the regular gameplay loop, but is a core representation of your own journey and culmination of the main theme of the game in FFXV, being bonds.
FFXVI is a story about nothing, where you can't do anything outside of the story about nothing.
