It's the dream of every Jewish person to simply be treated the same as any other NYer. But you support globalizing the intifada that would slaughter them. You don't get to hide behind your Semitophobia behind the Islamophobia of others. Go shove your fake tears somewhere.
Zohran Kwame Mamdani@ZohranKMamdani

The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker. And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows. No more.

@JAtanackov I live in Peekskill and have been fascinated by the 92 meteorite, but didn't know there was an associated fireball or so much video! lucky that it was on a friday night during football season

@theauroraguy I'm planning a visit to Canmore and Jasper later in August - any tips on Aurora chasing up there specifically?

"The G7 Summit" Lac des Arc, Alberta 20250613T0730Z This image is one of the major reasons I tout Calgary as the best mid geomagnetic latitude location in the world. The aurora is out every month of the year. We, as opposed to those in the East (Europe) who cannot attest to much of an aurora season missing out on 4 months of aurora. The weather is the best in Canada in regards to clear skies. We are hosting the G7 summit this year in our beautiful Kananaskis Provincial Park The solution is to come to Calgary. We are world class in many aspects, I can guarantee that if you visit Calgary for a month anytime of the year you will be able to capture the aurora..... #Sun #Spaceweather #Aurora #Auroraborealis #northernlights @NASAEarth #NASAJPL @NASASun @AlbertaAurora @TweetAurora @nenecallas @Magnetodawn @TamithaSkov @PipmizerX @abastrophile @NoelBowman13 @TravelAlberta @CBC @JAtanackov @swmcintosh @JimWindweather @NikonUSA @NikonCanada #substorm #Kananaskis #G7

@Vincent_Ledvina how much does the density measure matter for aurora viewing? also, thanks so much for all your posting! mainly because of you, I am starting to get the hang of using these graphs + GOES to figure out when it's worth heading out!

Looks like we’re finally returning to a state of relative quiet in the solar wind… solar wind speeds are still slightly elevated, but Bt/Bz are in normal ranges, now.

Playing around with some magnetometer data visualization for aurora chasing. This GOES mag + ACE Bz combo plot shows the good substorm early last night.

@theauroraguy Not bad given that 2019 was nearly the solar minimum! I'm thinking about taking a trip to Banff in August to try and catch some Auroras - do you have any other spots you'd recommend out there? Or is pretty much everywhere good?

When Nitrogen fills the sky you get amazing colours in the aurora, probably my favorite aurora is the Nitrogen Band aurora with gigantic blue pillars. This image was taken on the best night for aurora in 2019. I was at Peyto Lake in Banff National Park when the geomagnetic storm started up it was an all night affair, with me driving home at 0430 MST. This image was taken on 20190805T0904Z. The geomagnetic storm was caused by a CH HSS CIR. #Aurora #Auroraborealis #Nitrogen #Blue #northernlights

The 10-11 May 2024 G5 storm was probably one of the most prolific events in terms of these blue rays. In the final predawn hour over central Europe on May 11th we saw a spectacular display of tall blue rays extending to and past the zenith. These were sufficiently long to apparently show the curvature of the Earth's magnetic field lines - the curvature was obvious even with the naked eye!

The aurora borealis was visible last night in Peekskill, NY! iPhone shots from ~1AM at the Bear Mountain Bridge scenic overlook. Seeing the aurora has been on my bucket list for ages; I can't believe it happened a few miles from my house - and only 40 miles north of NYC!

@carolineavenue bushwick community darkroom has a large format scanner I have used in the past for Big Art Stuff or, photoshop has a built in feature under the automate menu called photomerge and it does a very good job of lining up overlapping photos into one big one, works well for big scans

Once again I am asking: who in BK has a scanner than can scan pages larger than 8.5" x 11"? I need to scan individual pages of these cut-out model books so we can blow them up and use them to make larger models!

Does anyone know the one im talking about. Like when you’re on a hike in Northern California in the summer and there’s the smell of that type of grass and it’s fresh but also warm and buttery and soft in a feathery way ….
