Buying back a 5-tez piece costs $1.50 today. If tez goes to $1, the same 5-tez piece costs $5. I'm effectively sweeping at a 70% discount to where dollar-denominated cost would land in a recovery scenario. Same lever, lower price tag. The floor lags the underlying token. When tez/USD goes up, sellers don't immediately re-price listings in tez, they leave them static and watch the dollar value rise. So during a tez rally there's typically a window of weeks-to-months where floors in tez are still cheap but tez itself is worth more. Anyone buying back during that window is buying at the structural low. By the time secondary listings catch up to where tez "should" be priced, the easy supply compression has already happened. My specific situation amplifies this. I've got accumulated tez (royalty backlog + recent secondary spike), the floor on my work is at multi-year lows, and I'm committing to a daily burn pace that compounds over time. The math gets steeply better the longer I sustain it during a depressed market: I'm trading cheap inventory for permanent supply reduction at the lowest unit cost I'll (hopefully) ever see.
