At PMQ, Starmer's pathetic response to reopening north sea licences is to say that the decision rests with the secretary of state. HE should take immediate leadership and reopen drilling.

Ok. This is why prices at the pump are so high in the UK. Most of what you pay is tax - Fuel Duty and VAT .. that’s 55% of the price. And the govt is still expecting to increase that by another 5p per litre later this year. 🤬🤬🤬👇👇👇🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🚗🚘🚙

@ProfBillMcGuire Yes I have. This is a debate about where to source gas while we still depend on it. Imported LNG has a higher carbon footprint.

@ProfBillMcGuire @NilsPratley We're in that time of the year in the Western hemisphere we can pretend all is normal. This summer is an El Nino and we are now burning carbon so fast the deterioration is noticeable YoY. By the end of the summer with burning planet and crop failures he will know.

It blows my mind people buy other EVs than a Tesla. Recently I’ve had Uber with eTron, BMW i3, Merc EQB and several crappy BYD. The best one? New Model Y. So smooth , clean and comfortable. And I wanted to love the others so much. The worst was BYD , it felt like a cheap ugly copy of what a car should be.

@WG_RumblePants Nope, think he loves himself too much, Alex Stewart, Richard Dawson, Alastair Cooke would be better options.

I’ve been critical of Michael Vaughan chasing headlines and trying to manufacture clickbait quotes. I think he’s tarnished his 2005 legacy a bit by doing that. I’m one of many fans that he’s blocked. But, having said all that, credit where it’s due. Having listened to him on the TMS podcast and his own pod today, he sounds a lot more competent and capable than Rob Key. He clearly has a vision for England. He is a proven performer. I don’t think he would take any crap. He might even knock a few heads together. Would you like to see him take over from Key?

@iKillCuriosity I remember Asif back in the day. Had a battered Merc stopped at lights in Clapham two blokes jumped in the back "take us to Balham please driver". Asif luckily big guy fired back "fuck off I'm not a cab !". His car/house ratio also would have been way out !

When MFS, the British mortgage lender, collapsed, one credit fund said they walked away over a watch. Its founder had a £200k Richard Mille, and was living in what was probably a £500k house. To the fund, this was a sign of bad money decisions.

How lazy and wrong for the German Energy Minister to blame sustainability for crashing the EU economy, especially at the time EU oil import dependency is growing by the hour. What if sustainability is instead the main strategy to reclaim Europe’s energy autonomy? politico.eu/article/german…

A big part of Meloni's political persona is due to her brash unapologetic lower-class Rome accent and way of speaking, on the top of the anti-intellectualism that is rife among the Italian right Frankly shocked to realise that she is seen abroad as "well spoken and educated" 😱
Greco@gecgreek

@giulio_mattioli was listening to the Rest is Politics when the elections came about and they characterized Meloni as well spoken and educated. Lmao. An appearance of decorum goes a long way to whitewash your faults, I guess

@dorfman_p Why is the public not given the cost benefit analysis of this? Costs: job disappear, environmental disaster, tech giants won't pay tax, billionaires get richer, sucks the grid dry.....sorry can't find any benefits....why is this being waved through.

@DavidHenigUK 300 billion tech deal. He means building AI equivalent of petrol stations whilst draining the Grid and paying FU tax. The waving through of AI without even a cursory look at likely effects on society will become the story.

An unimpressive Secretary of State for Business and Trade speaks, quotes bogus figures, and generally shows the lack of understanding of the UK's trade policy that has been a problem since 2016. standard.co.uk/news/politics/…
