Rousseau’s Discourse on Inequality and Emile popularized the myth that humans are born good and society (property, hierarchy, tradition) ruins us. Fix it with the right education, the right state, the right social contract, and we shall return to natural harmony. This is the kernel of modern progressivism: the belief that inequality is unnatural, institutions are oppressive, and experts/moral vanguards must engineer a better humanity. From this foundation, many took it to the extremes - reign of terror, Pol Pot. But even in moderation it was harmful! Because ultimately It rejects the empirical reality that humans are flawed, self-interested, and that institutions channel that into productive order rather than radicalism and violence. French Theory (post-1968) took Rousseau’s suspicion of truth, power, and norms and turned it into an uglier monster. But the original sin starts with him

Most Americans have no idea how radical the demographic change in the country has been since 2010. Much of the cultural & social problems we discuss on X are downstream of that. In 2010 America was ~70% White. Now it's just ~56% White. In addition, post-2010 immigration has been disproportionately unmarried men from Latin America & Asia and politically/culturally leftist. This is why NYC elected Mamdani and why LA will elect an Indian American socialist woman as its next mayor. This also is why White Americans in urban areas are retreating inward, turning to private exclusive events & networks as their primary social outlets (pilates, skiing, golf, are also part of this). Demographics is destiny.

Pope Leo has appointed Salvadoran-born Bishop Evelio Menjivar-Ayala, a formerly illegal immigrant and critic of Trump’s deportation policies, to lead West Virginia’s Catholics. Menjivar-Ayala is being transferred from the Archdiocese of Washington, where more than 40% of parishioners are Latino, to West Virginia’s Wheeling-Charleston Diocese, which covers a state where Latinos make up just 2.4% of the population.
