Those who find white men the embodiment of filth haven't met UC Indians.

You know, one of the best shot that Vaibhav played yesterday was for me the late defensive block on Bhuvi's slower one. He was ready to go big, spotted it, adjusted his bat swing in a way he blocks it. All this in middle of some absolute carnage, at that age. Live. Cherish!

Calculated the median scores for test batsmen who managed to score 8000+ test runs. Took some efforts to do this, but was a fun stat. Have divided the list in 2 parts. The 1st has players with a median score >=30 and the next with <30. Brian Lara-33.5 Garry Sobers-33.5 Rahul Dravid-33 AB de Villiers-33 Viv Richards-32.5 Sachin Tendulkar-32 Kane Williamson-32 Kumar Sangakkara-32 Jacques Kallis-31.5 Allan Border-31 Steve Smith-31 Shivnarine Chanderpaul-31 Virender Sehwag-31 Younis Khan-31 Kevin Pietersen-31 Matthew Hayden-31 Javed Miandad-30 Geoffrey Boycott-30 (1/n)

@pranavlal21 @dweplea Nah, CV also picks and chooses whom and what to argue with. He ignores everything on fundamentals (and the universality of his methods).

@Mid4343 @dweplea Cricinfo's metric is reasonably fine for a given match though. But it does not aggregate well since the numbers across different matches are not comparable. It simply makes no sense to add them up.

The reason liberals are politically most problematic group is that they think Trump is the problem and none of this would have happened if not for him. Liberal politics is about the status quo not material consequences.

Cam Green is currently batting against NSW, has scored 130* & single handedly given his team a first innings lead. Ppl want him to get dropped so that he slogs in domestic cricket but he's one of the most successful batters in Sheffield Shield.🥲

@Mystic_riverrr That said I do wonder what would have been if it was a serious crime drama with same setting and narrative elements. It doesn't make much sense to compare with Gaganachari as that in some sense is in a different sub genre of sci-fi.

@Mystic_riverrr silliness to a highly loaded narrative. Rajisha was brilliant in parts though. Niranj was also alright here and there. Divyaprabha's character was probably written that way. Among the fairly recognisable one Shanti B was possibly the worst. Overall I found the movie alright.

Masthishka Maranam tries to be a lot of things but mostly doesnt land despite a solid idea, politics & appreciable ambition. The gags land only when Suresh Krishna and jagadish are on screen. A dystopian satire that fails to punch above its weight owing to poor set of actors.

Those who do feel guilty, quit. And become inconsequential. If we anyway are fighting a battle we are bound to loose we at least could choose to fight on our own terms.

It is tied to how 'AI' aligned rhetoric mobilise 'money' and open newer pathways for accumulation and hence power. Moral arguments still remain within same value frame, it wants the corporates to feel guily. If they did they wouldn't be here.

How long will people continue harping arguments like these not are intelligent (which in some sense is extension of arbitrary notions like merit, intellect etc) or moralistic hubris? The issue fundamentally is monopolistic ownership and unbounded accumulation.

Apple has just published a paper with a devastating title: *The Illusion of Thinking*. And it's not a metaphor. What it demonstrates is that the AI models we use every day - yes, ones like ChatGPT - don't think. Not one bit. They just imitate doing so. Let me explain: 🧵👇

@dweplea (other things). Would be rather sad/funny if all of it doesn't materialise into selection if not a medal. That said this early exit may also see them out of Olympics race.

@dweplea they do given their most serious campaign so far has possibly became their worst ever. Another thing of interest is if Smith would find a way back. He kind of has part ruined his batting/hitting muscles for that Olympian tag (I do think that has also added to his decline amng).
