@BesuraTaansane Absolutely agreed. If you like a warmer temperature, bring a sweater. Solution is not to ask the AC attendant to turn off cooling or turn the temperature up which I see many doing, making others uncomfortable.

People who do this must be severely punished. Taping vents? Seriously? Carry warm clothing if you know you cannot tolerate AC Railways should keep temperature in compartment around 23-24 deg & not freeze everyone at 16 deg

To my Indian followers: Thank you for following me. I'm Masashi Mitsui, a Japanese photographer. Since 2007, I've traveled across India 12 times (!) by motorcycle, covering approximately 200,000 kilometers(!). I traveled without using guidebooks, blogs, YouTube, or any such information, relying entirely on chance encounters. India holds countless wonderful cultures destined to fade away and beautiful scenes of labor. While modernization will inevitably erase them, I want to preserve these moments through photography. If you resonate with my vision, please share my work with other Indians.

@Ananth_IRAS @apuwdm2 In congested city areas where most main stations are, this is the best alternative than to building satellite terminals far away from which it will be another hassle to commute to the city where already infrastructure to take you home exists. The yard could be elsewhere.

@sridhar_ml @apuwdm2 That's very expensive and would require the appropriate yard. Or extensive yard remodelling, which again, is very expensive.

The world's longest platform of a railway station at Hubbali - 1507 metres long! Advantage - By suitably modifying the yard, two trains can be dealt with on the same platform, thereby increasing the holding capacity of the station. #IndianRailways Pic courtesy, @apuwdm2!

A genuine solution to tackle Tatkal booking issues could be to move away from the fixed 10 AM and 11 AM opening times, which overload the servers every day. Instead, Tatkal booking should be made dynamic, where it opens 24 hours before a train’s scheduled departure time. For example: Train 12951 Mumbai–New Delhi Rajdhani Express departs Mumbai Central at 5:00 PM. Under this system, its Tatkal window would open at 5:00 PM the previous day. This would naturally distribute booking traffic across the entire day, rather than concentrating millions of requests into a few minutes. The only major challenge would be the functioning of PRS (Passenger Reservation System) ticket counters, which would need to operate 24×7. However, this is entirely doable with shift-based staffing and selective counters at major stations. What do you think about this idea?

When in Rajamahendravaram, one should go for the Pushkar Ghat Godavari Arati, though it's a miniature, when compared with the Ganga Aarti at Varanasi. The location of the Ghat right opposite the heritage Havelock bridge makes it all the more special. May Godavari Mata bless us all with good health, wellbeing and prosperity. 🙏 #Godavari #Travel #Andhra

@Ananth_IRAS Thank you, will definitely try. Somehow, remember eating at another place in BZA, which had more variety and brilliant taste, but was more of a small storefront and we had to eat standing. Don’t remember that name. Does that ring a bell?

When in Vijayawada, and you are in a mood for Idli for breakfast or evening tiffin, don't look beyond this outlet - SSS Idli, served in a traditional thatched roof restaurant! The idli just melts in your mouth and the groundnut chutney is excellent! The other plus - ghee is also served along with idlis. The minuses - it's a restaurant only for idli and no other dish is served. And idli is served only with groundnut chutney, chutney powder and ginger chutney, and no sambhar is prepared. But the idlis that are in a slightly square shape, are the best I have had. #Vijayawada #breakfast #restaurant

I feel sad that one of the best संस्कृतम् resources sanskritabhyas.in/en-IN is shutting down for financial reasons. I discovered this in 2020 when I was just starting and this had soon become my go-to website for verb and noun declensions. 1/3

IIT Madras Alumni Association hosted the grand Chennai launch of Anubhuti – Experiencing Muthusvami Dikshitar, authored by Distinguished Alumnus Dr Kanniks Kannikeswaran. The book was released by IIT Madras, Director Prof. V Kamakoti, who highlighted Dikshitar’s unparalleled ability to integrate Hindustani ragas and even colonial-era musical influences into the Carnatic tradition. He also announced that next year’s Kashi Tamil Sangamam will feature a special focus on music and the arts—an apt tribute to cultural visionaries like Dikshitar. Dr Kanniks captivated the audience with an illuminating presentation, including the powerful assertion of ‘Santatam Pahimam’ as the first voice of Decoloniality. The event also featured the premiere of Guruguha Mangalam, a 16-line Sanskrit ragamalika composed by him and soulfully rendered by Sikil Gurucharan, visually bringing to life 15 ragas that echo Dikshitar’s musical universe. Published by Garuda Prakashan, Anubhuti positions Dikshitar as a pan-Indian visionary whose music synthesises philosophy, yoga, and the nada marga. IITMAA President Sridhar Boovaraghavan closed the evening by thanking the community for their spirited participation. #IITMadras #IITMAA #AnubhutiLaunch #MuthusvamiDikshitar @IITMAA @iitmadras
