@devahaz @jbarro That is accurate based on my re-reading your post/thread. No real response here except I'm a moron and need to get back to work.

@ss492 @jbarro You seem unable to read or process information, so maybe now focus on becoming less stupid in your 40s

@devahaz @jbarro You unable to perform basic tasks, and not embarrassed. Also incapable of thinking for your self and not being unduly infuenced by search/SM? In my 20s, I barely cooked, was not proud of it, but was frugal and made enough money. In my 40s I cook for our family of 6.

@JayJCruz @nicolegelinas So you just believe things with no evidence but "know" its true. NY (and most blue states) have massive budget deficits, but we need to keep funding these institutions with no attempt at efficiency. And that is after a lot of support from federal tax dollars.

@ss492 @nicolegelinas "Outsider" as in you dont work in transportation, MTA, NYCT, LIRR, MetroNorth, SIR, Etc. Culturally those places do not deal with the issues NYC passengers present. No one else even comes close to the volume. Those trains are cleaner because of the people riding not the cleaners

@ss492 @nicolegelinas Outsiders looking in dont realize you actually CANT automate operation or handle with 1 person. NYC has too many people and more importantly too many people doing dangerous things. Im talking about regular passengers on a daily basis. Hangout at 42GC 4/5/6 see it yourself.

@JayJCruz @nicolegelinas Yes MTA negotiated it, thats why people rail against public sector unions and MTAs management. NYC subways require 2 operators even if they can be driveless (like in Europe). Is LIRR a jobs program or rail system? At some point we run out of money and it will be neither.

@ss492 @nicolegelinas I know it for a fact. The idea that they are qualified to do it is irrelevant that it isnt their job. Again, thats why MTA NEGOTIATED those OT stipulations.

A thermal battery company just turned on one of the largest energy storage projects on Earth. This is what reindustrialization looks like. Not a rendering. Not a demo. A real industrial energy asset delivering energy to a real customer. 🧵

@JayJCruz @nicolegelinas Wait. You really believe that? Nearly 100% of their staff is trained to operate all the engine types. This is a train system, not a jobs program. Long islands unemployment is 4.2%, people are not struggling to find work.

@ss492 @nicolegelinas You dont understand what that means. Those are two different equipments that belonged to two different operator jobs. That was negotiated and MTA pays the OT because they save on hiring another person. Thats why they signed the deal in the first place. Short staff/save money

@pmcondon2 This seems a very contrived way to present the data . It would be more useful to show housing /population. If I build 10 units and 30 families migrate in- that's 20 fewer units. Prices go up If you build no units and 10 families leave..that's 10 new units. Price goes down.

This needs to be posted from time to time. Bottom line, the more you build the more housing costs. Correlation is not causation but my god!

@nicolegelinas OT is cheaper than hiring another 150 Engineers to cover the work. To make that much they have no personal life. And if they dont hire more people or pay OT the service doesnt run and you'll complain about that too. These types of comments are proof you're all clueless or envious

Larry Bushart spent 37 days in jail for posting a meme on Facebook. I’ve been doing this work for 25 years, and I can honestly say this is the worst First Amendment case I’ve ever seen. Not because Larry threatened anyone. He didn’t. Not because he committed violence. He didn’t. Not because this was a close call. It wasn’t. He posted a political meme — the kind of thing millions of Americans do every day — and local officials decided to treat it like a crime. And because they had badges, prosecutors, jail cells, and the terrifying machinery of the state behind them, they got away with it for 37 days. Larry is a retired police officer and National Guard veteran. The meme he shared quoted Donald Trump’s “we have to get over it” comment after a 2024 Iowa school shooting. Whatever you think of Trump, the meme was plainly political commentary. Perry County officials knew what it referred to. They knew it wasn’t a threat against a Tennessee school. They arrested him anyway. In the middle of the night. They set his bond at $2 million. He lost his job. He missed family milestones. He sat in jail for more than a month before the charges finally collapsed — because, of course, there was no crime here. Today, @theFIREorg secured a measure of justice: Perry County agreed to pay Larry Bushart $835,000 for violating his constitutional rights. This case should scare the hell out of people across the political spectrum. Because if the government can jail you for a meme by pretending not to understand obvious political commentary, your rights are only as secure as the good faith of the most authoritarian official in your town. That is exactly why we have the First Amendment. Not for speech everyone likes. Not for opinions that flatter the powerful. Not for the bland, safe, committee-approved stuff. It exists for moments when fear, outrage, politics, and authority all line up and say: “Surely this is the exception.” No. It isn’t. I’m incredibly proud of @theFIREorg’s legal team. And I’m even prouder of Larry Bushart for refusing to let the government get away with treating his constitutional rights like a suggestion. But despite the correct verdict, I'll probably always get angry every time I think of this case. Let’s make this the last time anyone in America is arrested — let alone thrown in jail — for a meme. Celebrate your independence. Defend your First Amendment. fire.org/news/victory-t…

Long Island Rail Road is expensive. The shortest roundtrip within Queens is $12.50 (1 peak, 1 offpeak). To go to the end of the line & back is $57.50. It's why people drive. Labor is ~70% of LIRR's budget. Overtime alone account for 22% of LIRR’s payroll. nypost.com/2026/05/18/us-…
