People get so pissed off when you say you, personally, don't need fruit and veg to be healthy. It's as if they are afraid that all those years of forcing themselves to choke down spinach smoothies and kale salads were completely in vain. Except when abstinence means starvation, no sane animal eats things they don't like, except humans. I'm reminded of this every time I see a parent pleading with a toddler to eat their veggies.

Inflammation can be a rapid cause of insulin resistance. One reason I don't focus on inflammation as part of the solution is that it's difficult to know whether it's a cause and even more challenging to reverse it--you simply can't often know what's driving the inflammation. As I'm working on my talk for the upcoming @greekgoesketo event, I am focusing on one known source: the gut. The gut can absolutely be a source of inflammatory signals, but not always. Some stimuli can increase gut-derived inflammation, including fructose and PUFA.
