[2/6] Performance is king. 👑 Most SVGs in our apps are static; they don’t need the heavy overhead of specialized full SVG spec rendering. 🔬Nano Icons give you the speed of font-based rendering without losing multi-color complex shape support. We updated Argent to use React DevTools backend as the source of profiling data ⚛️ Took Claude Haiku 4.5 + Argent only 1.5 minutes to profile a flow in a React Native app 👀 Give it a try: npx @swmansion/argent init

Stop treating haptics like a black box. @piaskowyk explains why you should think about them like music instead and what that means when you're actually designing them. 🎼

Great read, kinda wish the retention drop wasn’t so aggressive with this flow, also works only for immediate paywall apps. Anyways, broken attribution on ios and complicated defered links are exactly why we’re building docs.swmansion.com/detour/ - might be worth checking out for anyone implementing this flow.

✨Pulsar #PresetOfTheWeek Applause - celebrate user achievements with a small moment of appreciation. For example, in a learning app, this can mark the end of a lesson pack or study session - perfect for when the UI shifts into a “Nice work, keep going!” moment.

@stachbial @stachbial wow amazing results, I really impressed perf. improvements. What about memory usage do you see an improvement for example between rendering x4 png and font glyph on retina screens? 🤔

@fanilo_g Not at all! although you will have to trigger the script manually just as in bare react-native workflow and load the fonts dynamically - I’ll cover that case in the readme along with the next release 🫡

@stachbial I would assume that the font would have no issue being updated with OTA ?

This is the most performant way of rendering icons in RN apps right now. Specifically optimized for graphics that app uses in many places: like icons that are shown on every list item. But it works super well for image assets in tons of other use cases too!

The React Native Rewind
The React Native Rewind@ReactNativeRwd·
Building a custom header that feels "native" in React Native is notoriously difficult. You either stick with the rigid defaults provided by navigation libraries, or you build a custom component and spend days fighting to get the scroll sync and screen transitions to look fluid. It’s a classic trade-off between stability and customisation that often leads to janky animations. 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁-𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 just hit 𝘃𝟭.𝟬.𝟬, and it’s a complete shift in how we handle these complex UI patterns. Instead of fighting against the navigation stack, it introduces a way to bridge the gap between your content and the header area with precision. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲? ➡️ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁-𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗣𝗜 — A redesigned architecture that uses React context to manage header state. This makes it much easier to update header elements based on what’s happening deep inside your screen's component tree without messy prop drilling. ➡️ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 — The library now explicitly bridges with the navigation state, ensuring that as you swipe between screens, the header transitions are perfectly synchronised with the native navigation animation. ➡️ 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 — Significant internal refactors have reduced the overhead of tracking scroll positions and state changes, delivering much smoother motion even in complex layouts. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀? For a long time, achieving that polished "Apple-style" large header that morphs and moves was reserved for apps with massive engineering teams. With the 𝘃𝟭.𝟬 milestone, 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁-𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 makes these high-end interactions accessible to everyone, providing a stable, performant foundation for design systems that need to stand out. #ReactNative #MobileDev #UIUX #OpenSource #JavaScript #TypeScript #Animations #Navigation #HeaderMotion #SoftwareEngineering #DevTools #MobileAppDev
