I interviewed Tim Cook. I still can’t fully process it.
Not that long ago, this felt impossible. Sitting down with him, having a real conversation… it was a dream I carried quietly for years.
And yet, here we are.
What stayed with me the most wasn’t just who he is as a CEO, but who he is as a person. Kind. Present. Humble. His mission is about people, about making a real impact on the world… and getting to witness that up close is something I’ll never forget.
But this isn’t my moment.
We did this.
Every view, every comment, every message… every second you chose to spend with my content led to this. Through the doubts, the hard moments, the times I questioned everything… you stayed.
And that means more than I can explain.
To the love of my life, thank you for being my calm and my home.
To my incredible team, thank you for believing in this vision even on the hard days.
To my family, thank you for loving me the way you do.
To my incredible mentor, you’ve changed me in ways you’ll never fully see.
I feel incredibly lucky. For this moment, but even more for the journey and the people in it.
This isn’t the destination.
It’s a reminder.
That dreams that feel out of reach might be closer than you think.
You’re part of this story.
Thank you.

$4,399 M5 Max 16” MacBook Pro vs $11,238 Dell Pro Max 18 Plus is now in progress!

Vadim Yuryev@VadimYuryev
Just finished filming the most ambitious MacBook performance comparison we've ever done! M1 Max vs M2 Max vs M3 Max vs M4 Max vs M5 Max Ran pretty much every test that we usually run, with charts for each one. This will act as a reference for the next year or so. Stay tuned!

@stalman But tech got bad over the years. Tech was looked at more positive back then because people were more optimistic. Now big tech ruined most of it made it a slop and enshittified most platforms.
English

I think I realized why I actually stopped reading The Verge: it feels like they just don’t like tech
Life is stressful enough, just let me enjoy it

@stalman @levosaurus @samsheffer @stratechery @stratechery is great but I also want a daily tech news site
English

@y_molodtsov @levosaurus @samsheffer A moment that really stands out is when chat bots first got good, other journalists were rightfully impressed.
Verge cast started to have this bit about how “they want to kiss their computers”.
And I just felt like, can we just take one minute to be impressed?
English

@stalman @levosaurus @samsheffer I wouldn't say they dismiss AI. They dismiss certain categories of applications of AI.

English

@The_Dave_Mann @levosaurus @samsheffer There’s nothing else like them, but the sub subscription I find worth paying for is @stratechery
English

@The_Dave_Mann @levosaurus @samsheffer They have the resources and talent to be the best, they just need rediscover their love for tech
English

@stalman @levosaurus @samsheffer I subscribe because I still think they do a better job than anyone else in tech news, but the addition of politics and the overall pessimism towards tech really grates on me.
English

@KorothArjun You have no idea how hard it is to get every spec right 😰
English

@stalman @Tanner_Field This Is My Next turned into This Is My Last
English

@RyHerbs @samsheffer He really does have an incredible grasp of the industry, it just feels like he’s sick of it all
English

@stalman @samsheffer 100%. Still love Nilay’s perspectives on tech; he demonstrates a better understanding than just about anyone left in the industry. But the verge as a whole is undoubtedly not in a great place.
English

@stalman This is the most exciting time in tech; anyone can build anything. It’s like 1978 when you can buy a computer and just start coding — only 1000x faster and easier. I don’t understand how people can be so critical and negative.
It’s SO exciting.
English

@themaholupper Not really, athletes still play sports while voicing their opinion.
English

From the train of thought that brought you "athletes/comedians/etc shouldnt talk about politics"

I think I realized why I actually stopped reading The Verge: it feels like they just don’t like tech Life is stressful enough, just let me enjoy it
English

@costacancio That’s a fair point, they are a counterbalance. But still, its just exhausting
English

@Geecube3 They still have a team of seriously smart people, so I still want to see them turn a corner someday
English

@phorne96 @samsheffer And I get that there’s a lot of darkness to the tech world, but I am generally an optimist about these things long term.
English

@stalman @samsheffer Totally agree. I think, and can understand, that Nilay and the rest of the Verge have become so tired and burnt out by the shenanigans of the tech industry (PR, overpromising, politics, etc) that they've become cynical to the point of just being cranky and mad all the time.
English

@workbylight @samsheffer It’s literally every headline of every other news source. I think Americas troubles are pretty well documented and I feel that one of techs best resourced publications would best serve their readers by putting those resources into tech stories
English

@stalman @samsheffer Knowing you’re Canadian I totally get that. If this was a less insane. administration I would be even sympathetic. However I hope you can see that things are not going well over here. I WANT more voices speaking out against this fascist, corrupt clown show of a government
English

@workbylight @samsheffer Get back to actual tech. They have the best team of tech reporters in the industry and spend half their energy on politics. Vox already has that covered.
English

@stalman @samsheffer What type of coverage or topics would you prefer they focus on instead ?
English

@mattworkman I wish I could compare surveys of my creative production audience to the general public
I have a feeling most people don’t give a shit what is and isn’t ai
English

‘’Nobody wants to watch AI slop” is a low sample size take
“Nobody wants AI games” is a low imagination take

Mom: “look at this video” Me: “that’s AI ” Dad: “look at this video” Me: “that’s AI ” that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI that’s AI
English

@levosaurus @samsheffer It shifted to mostly politics and policy. One example is just how often they write about Elon, in a way that their distaste for him skews the actual tech coverage. Or their takes on Apple often feel more like bait than thoughtful opinions. Or their knee jerk dismissal of AI.
English

@stalman @samsheffer I pay for The Verge. What are your issues with their coverage? It‘s an honest question since I know nothing about the internals.
