The MCC ought not to have been granted to the Government of Sierra Leone at this point in time, as it should only be awarded after the government addresses election rigging and implements Tripartite Committee recommendations, not rewarding those undermining democracy.
@PresidentBio You have a special place in our history books for changing our story, leaving behind the dominant negative stories to alternative positive ones.
Today, Sierra Leone is delighted to commence a momentous tenure as the President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of August. I firmly believe that during this Presidency, we will significantly advance the urgent need for reforms within the United Nations Security Council.
Our primary focus will be on advocating for reforming of the Security Council to provide equitable, inclusive and permanent representation for Africa. This will help amplify the voices of the 1.2 billion individuals living on the continent. It is our mission to correct this historic injustice that has persisted for 79 years.
Like the controversial Presidential Elections of 2023, like the consequential Bar Association elections of 2024. Is this a convergence of avians of the same plumage conjugating? Just asking on behalf of those who can’t see, speak or hear🤷🏽♂️
Despite chaos surrounding the Sierra Leone Bar Election, @TumaGento has been elected President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association with 560 votes followed by @WaraSlba52251 with 23 votes and @SoeMarrah with 15 votes.
Interestingly, 28 lawyers voted void! The election has been marred with violent conducts
TENSION IS BUILDING UP IN THE RELIGIOUS COMMUNITIES IN SIERRA LEONE?
Well, I think @PresidentBio should move fast to fire @dsengeh ! Sengeh’s unprofessional comments directed to the 2 major religious organizations In Sierra Leone in building tension in the religious communities. Religious leaders and their supporters are not treating Sengeh accusing them of stealing electricity lightly.
@thomasd05987132@TumaGento@WaraSlba52251@SoeMarrah The bar association's election fiasco is a troubling indication of the state of our democracy under these munku paopas. When the integrity of elections is compromised, it undermines the foundation of our social fabric. It is sad our country has been grounded to minus 0️⃣
As they set along to elect a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker of Parliament today, there has been a power outage in the Well of Parliament as usual.
Electricity supply like the economy doesn't lie, you don't need to try to convince people to believe that you've given them electricity, they would see and make use of it. For some if not most people it is a source of livelihood.
If @PresidentBio could take over the Energy Ministry, a Minister whom you said has done all this good work resigned and you're off to Turkey to renegotiate an agreement you signed and told us is one of the best, it means things aren't right. Your best isn't enough, just accept and do what you promised to do better when in opposition.
Nar now una know sae people raising concerns just dae oppose? Something you did with perfection on social media?
It is almost a week now and we're still in this electricity crisis. Can we have a timeline for when this will be resolved?
Speak to people running businesses even in the Central Business District and understand what they're going through and ask them what is it about being positive.
If people sleep in hot and wake up without electricity, they will not feel positive. If they still struggle to have a decent life they won't feel positive either.
You can't force them to, they will naturally do when things are right for them as they are for you.
You enjoy what this appointment brings along, you show how you're treated well wherever you go, and even have time to sing and rap. That's who should always be positive and not those who sleep and wake pan blackout.
But enty light dae State House and at home with AC inside the SUV all at the expense of the public, continue to be positive.
There's a crisis, fix it. Until then allow even the homeless to complain. They're your compatriots, not people begging you for help. You don't love this country more than them either.
I do not in any way support anyone abusing anyone when we disagree. I have always maintained that democracy provides that we disagree and we should guard that without being abusive.
You signed up for this and can as well leave us in peace if you're tired.

@PresidentBio has in his Independence Day address to the nation today acknowledged that the country is confronted with significant economic challenges including high food prices, elevated fuel costs, and persistent energy shortages that impact the daily lives of every Sierra Leonean.
Citizens are going through these economic hardships when those in government are living a lifestyle that doesn't show that things are hard. They aren't showing us what they're doing to reduce unnecessary spending and refocus the meager resources on priority areas.
Check how many Ministries we have. How many agencies and commissions have overlapping responsibilities and functions?
I am sure the appointment of advisers at State House is still fresh in our minds. And don't tell me they're working for free.
In the situation we are presently when even the President has acknowledged that things are hard, we should be seeing the political class also make some of the sacrifices you're asking us to make.
There's a new increase in the price of a driver's license. Our Members of Parliament just approved an increase in the Tollgate Tariff.
These aren't actions that will cushion the hardship on the people.
We have heard your assurance, Mr. President, but you can do more and better to alleviate some of the economic pressure on your compatriots.
May we celebrate our 64th Independence Anniversary without much to worry about as Sierra Leoneans, at least the basics and bread and butter.
In all of these economic challenges, wait and see as they fly out soon.😎

@LamranaAmadu This misuse of social media is sickening. This attention seeking needs to be contained. If de government bin for organise state dinner en oda event, una bin for say de government dae waste money bak. We kontri sorry wit den kind pseudo-journalism with clear intent.
Directing MDA’s to commemorate Independence with prayers in mosques and churches, is in collusion with freedom of religion. (Constitution (s. 24(1). Hence Govt cannot dictate when, how, or in what faith, people should pray. Let them carry their own load and seek self penance
@staphaygeneral@LamranaAmadu General Staphay you heart look warm. Take am easy bro. Let the discussion be based on facts rather than assumptions. Ain’t you know numbers don’t lie. Maths 110 prove that to you.
@staphaygeneral I see you're following me and I haven't followed back. Why not save yourself from the difficulty of having to read and always respond to this double standard? Your mental health and well-being are important o 😀
@LamranaAmadu Instead of projecting yourself as a subject expert on everything in Sierra Leone, just show respect to the old gentleman and the reason for his retirement.
A usually reliable source at Parliament has confirmed that the Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Abass Bundu has tendered a letter today to proceed to retirement.
There has been ongoing discussion and speculation in the media about plans to oust him as Speaker.
About a week ago, the opposition APC Member of Parliament, Hon. Mohamed Bangura accused the Speaker of removing his name from the Sierra Leone delegation to the regional ECOWAS Parliament and threatened to take court action against him.
A source said Members of Parliament of the ruling SLPP weren't happy about the action of the Speaker not to include Hon. Bangura's name in the list and had a meeting with @PresidentBio where they made their concerns known.
In an interview on public radio, Hon. Mohamed Bangura rescinded his plan to take court action against the Speaker and said he would seek God's intervention on the issue.
"Ah lef me case to God," he said.
Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, the Deputy Speaker has been presiding over Parliamentary sittings lately.

Some 6 months ago, in October 2023 the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) announced that they had instituted an investigation into the allegation of receipt of vehicles as gifts by Andrew Jaiah Kakai the former Chief Immigration Officer.
ACC took all the 3 vehicles including a G-Wagon into their custody.
About 3 months ago, in January 2024 the Anti-Corruption Commission also announced that they were investigating the Clerk of Parliament, Hon. Paran Tarawally, and his wife who was allegedly employed as a staff of Parliament without due process and wasn't working.
Subsequently, she returned the salary received for the months she didn't work. The husband, Hon. Paran was suspended and both of them were put on bail according to the ACC.
Now, I have been asking repeatedly about these investigations, and the Deputy Commissioner of the ACC, Augustine Foday-Ngobie says the public will be informed accordingly of their report on the conclusion of their investigation.
It will be good for the public to understand what could have been the delay in concluding these investigations especially when Kakai is still working for the government while Paran's suspension was never officially announced and we don't know if he's still receiving his salary and other benefits.

@LamranaAmadu@SLAJ_Salone Una lef dis attention en relevant seeking na Salone, by creating a false belief about your safety. No one close to power is after you; they may banter with you on social media, and that is it.
Thanks to @SLAJ_Salone and the Human Rights Defenders Network for the press releases.
Thanks to everyone on here for your show of solidarity and all those who called and sent messages to support and check on my safety.
I am concerned about my safety, especially with the continued threats from some people who are very close to the seat of power but I am also hopeful that @PresidentBio will ensure our safety and security as we continue to do our work in holding him and his government accountable as part of strengthening the democratic process in our country.
We are in this together to continue to stand with and for the people of 🇸🇱 🙏

Within a week, two Sierra Leoneans have been reportedly arrested in India, trying to smuggle cocaine into the country.
When we report these issues, it is not for our country to look bad but for the authorities to understand the situation of drug trafficking and drug abuse in our country.
According to the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs drug trafficking and money laundering remain prevalent at alarming levels in Sierra Leone, with the country being used as a transshipment point from South America/Asia to Europe and, to a lesser extent, the United States.
Please @MoiceComm when you discuss Kush tomorrow, understand that we have a situation of hard drugs also being easily accessible in the country.

Beyond party lines, a flagrant display of opulence by public officials against stark reality of poverty of the governed, is nothing short of deprived childhood and depraved adulthood. A comparative analysis will always be made of lifestyles before, while in office and thereafter.
