Japanese copyright views confuse me cause on one hand, they have a thriving and extremely popular doujinshi culture which openly violates copyright in the same way all fanart does and this is seen as acceptable simply because the companies don't pursue them. But ensuring a game they payed for can still be played after EOS is seen as some extreme flagrant disregard for copyright law even though by japanese law, it's still likely completely legal in most cases to do it. Japan's stricter view of copyright seems to stop completely with specifically playing games and watching anime, nothing else.
