@jasonkoop I love hearing from elites and what coaches actually experience in the real world with their athletes. Science is great and important too and a mix of all three, the best! There is room for (most) everything. ✌🏼

Most of my podcasts are constructed as interviews with domain experts for a reason. I do not view myself as an expert on these topics. I try to learn so that I can apply it to practice & I hope listeners do too. I could easily just interview the elites or give off the cuff commentary. I may be 7000 miles away but my heart is in Israel 🇮🇱💔 It’s a place I’ve been three times covering two full months, and full of friends and their families who I’ve met at camp, in Boston, through the running community, and even here in Boulder. I’ve been at the edge of bursting into tears for 72 hours now; a weird combination of extreme sadness mixed with anger. I have friends who have been recalled to the military, picking up their weapons to go fight back against terrorism. I have other friends who have friends and family that have been killed by these recent absolutely disgusting attacks. Yet at the same time, life seems to be moving right along, at least here in America, but to some of your Jewish friends, this feels quite a lot like 9/11, except this time we’re adults and have a stronger understanding of what’s happening. I’ve felt compelled to share about this on here and reshare a lot of other stuff. I don’t think I’m going to convince anyone who’s out there shouting FREE PALESTINE (Palestinians deserve safety and security just like anyone else) because those people seem to be set on using historical events to justify a terrorist act (mind you, from a group of people, Hamas, who hates gays and disrespects women, to name a few of their attributes). I know there are people who will read this who have shared things like that before and please know I’m not speaking about you; I’m referring to the false equivocation happening right now in NYC, SF, etc. I’m interested in bringing awareness to those of you who might not really know what’s going on or maybe don’t know many Jewish people in their communities. Just a simple 🇮🇱 or a reshare of a story/post on the topic goes a long way in showing your support because yet again, it seems like mainstream society supports just about every social justice issue except for anything related to Jews. Check on your Jewish friends; we’re not okay. 💔

@USAA_help what’s going on with the app? Every time I use the app lately, I get locked out (FaceID or quick logon with PIN). I reset everything and it works once and then the next time I have to do it all again. Is there a known issue?

"But I can't train 2-3 hours a day, I'm not training for the Olympics!" The thing that must be understood.. Low intensity training volume is not only central to endurance performance. Low intensity training volume is central to long-term health! The current predicament... Person wakes up, rushes to car & spends 30min to an hour with cortisol elevated, blood glucose elevated, lactate elevated, getting stressed out driving to work. 😡 Person arrives at work, sits down for 8hrs + and values of all of the above markers only go up from there! Person is aware of the importance of health and fitness, so person drives to the gym, pushes the intensity of an hour long workout that only sends all of the above even higher! Person drives home, eats a quick convenient meal, & is surprised how hard it is to get good sleep!😵‍💫 Person begins the pattern all over the next day. Our system is not built to survive this pattern. This pattern repeated year after year will lead to very poor health at a very early point in your life. 🤒 Fitting a large amount of movement into the day to modulate cortisol, to modulate blood glucose, to modulate blood lactate is not a luxury, it is what your body needs to function properly. It is how it/you were built to live! And, with that, I'm off to toodle around on the bike for 3 hours. 🚴 /end manifesto.

My 16-year-old decides he’s training for a 5K in 3 weeks. Goes for his first run since July 4. Warms up by watching golf. Runs one mile in 6:36. Collapses on couch for 30 minutes. (Husband jokes it’s the 5K to couch training program.) Sadly, kid will smoke us both in the race.
