Everything NBA. A lot of Hornets. Stats, insights, jokes, heaps of quote-retweets. Theoretically switchable.

Nikola Vučević has played 1000+ regular season games, made two All-Star teams, is top-100 all-time in pts and top-40 in rebs. Somehow, he still has never experienced winning a playoff series.

idk if I’ll get to flesh it out on the pod, so: I get *how* you land on Garza starting (struggles + foul trouble from Queta/Vuc) I get *how* you land on Baylor starting (defense/OREB swing > Hauser) I even get *how* you land on Ron Harper Jr (diff defensive look, maintain some rotation pattern integrity by pulling deeper from the bench, especially if *all* the Vuc minutes are gone) But it’s still wild to me that those logic threads led to ALL THREE STARTING TOGETHER. A true too-much-dip moment from Joe that’s understandably gonna catch flak all offseason.

Asked Rudy Gobert what surprised him about Victor Wembanyama when they were teammates during the Olympics. "A few weeks ago he asked me what kind of filter I had in my house for water. It just tells you how his mind is. I try to talk to the young guys here about the food they eat and stuff like that. But I don't get those type of questions." Ant hasn't asked you about water filters? "Never. Not yet. I pray for that day."

Matisse Thybulle on the job Tiago Splitter did this season: "There's a term where, if its late in the shot clock and someone throws you the ball because they don't have a good look and you have to shoot it with no time left, they call it a grenade. In a sense that's kind of what Tiago was thrown... It's in some cases a bit of miracle, but in our world, even if you overachieve, it can still be disappointing to people... As far as I'm concerned, Tiago did an amazing job."

Strangest illogical belief in the basketball community, and I say community, because there are many coaches who believe it, not just fans —is that a good offensive player who is bad on defense is unplayable in the playoffs but a good defender and bad offensive player IS playable.

This "legal guarding position" nonsense needs to end This was an offensive foul (or a no call) for the first 70 years of the NBA An offensive player can now plow into a defender's stomach simply because he's not standing 100% perfectly still?

So let's say this new plan actually eliminated tanking. Everyone tried to win all season. Someone still has to finish in the bottom 3! A naturally bad team! And we want to give them less odds to improve than better teams - and even potentially let them slip to 12th yr after yr?

@TeddyWxstside @GetsPod There's no reason the 2nd or 3rd worst team should have worse odds than the 9th worst team

@statcenter @GetsPod You still have a chance at a top pick if you’re bottom 3. It doesn’t eliminate your ability to draft #1

@timeburns1 You want to guess who was the last All-Star picked at 12 before Hali? Mookie Blaylock in 1989. Of course draft position matters a lot.

@statcenter People dont want to screw the bad teams. But you have to choose between 3 naturally bad teams and 7 teams strategically bad teams . Both have downsides and benefits. It's about if you want less bad games or more help for bad teams. They both are flawed options but u pick a poison

@statcenter Yes, those teams in the relegation zone will be aware of the situation and fight for wins for example against middling teams fighting for wins to avoid entering that zone. There’s incentive to win in nearly all type of scenarios depending on which teams are playing each other
