It's 30°C in parts of Britain today. And the animals are struggling.☀️
Dairy cows in Cumbria are drinking twice as much water.
Milk yields are dropping.
Farmers are out there at 3am moving livestock to shade.
This isn't just a heatwave. This is another challenge for British farming.
The Irish government has already issued guidance - no transporting animals in the hottest part of the day.
What has the UK government said? Nothing new.
East of England just had one of the driest Aprils on record.
Crops already planted are failing.
This current hot spell is making everything worse.
A Lincolnshire arable farmer told the BBC his wheat is suffering.
That wheat becomes your bread.
Your pasta.
Your breakfast cereal.
One more week of this and thousands of acres of British crops will be written off.
Temperatures are rising. So are costs.
More water for livestock.
More diesel for ventilation.
More stress on the farmer.
The weather is getting harder. The government is getting quieter.
This isn’t to scaremonger, and it’s nothing British farmers haven’t weathered before (excuse the pun), just an opportunity to ask the question…

I’m 110% against the Enhanced Games. I’m sure you’re not surprise to know that, but 250k for being half a second of the WR (a long way in 50 free swimming) compared to 10K (see below) after being retired for years is an ok days work. It’s time athletes got to share in the billions the ioc makes.

Women´s swimming has the weakest roster when you look at their achievements at the itnertinal level. But those outside of the swimming comunnity could never tell. In the 50 free at the Enhanced Games, the winner (Emily Barclay) reportedly stepped away from competitive swimming years ago and had never been part of an international team. She only joined the Enhanced Games because her boyfriend (Ben Proud, Olympic silver in Paris) was participating. She just earned $250,000. Her time 24.09. WR is 23.61 which typically gets awarded $10,000 by World Aquatics.

If this is all true and all the other reports coming out are true, this is a massive massive massive victory for President Trump. Basically nobody — I repeat, nobody (from senators to world leaders and more with very rare exception) — thought President Trump could accomplish all of this. The few who did include the Prime Minister of Greece, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq, the Prime Minister of Qatar, and a handful of others. Most thought Trump would just agree to a watered down version of the JCPOA (Obama Iran deal). By all indications, this emerging agreement is far better than that and actually accomplishes what Barack Obama could not: Trump seems to have stopped Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

Oh dear....apparently the vaccine was "proven to be safe" (it didn't even say that in the original Pfizer trial which i presume @AndyBurnhamGM hadn't read then and probably hasn't now).

The UK borrowed another £24.3 billion in April, above the £20.9 billion forecast by the Office for Budget Responsibility.
The ONS said the debt interest bill rose to £10.3 billion last month – the highest on record for April, which marks the start of the new financial year.
