@SunShakSunday @ThinkAppraiser That’s what pledged asset lines and HELOC’s are for

@Stealx @ThinkAppraiser 3 months is wild.
12 for me.
And my burn ain’t cheap.

Honest question: if you’re worth $100 million why wouldn’t you cash out $10 million as a rainy day fund?
BridgeLenderGuy@bridgelenderguy
I met a well-known real estate developer this weekend and he told me that he is worth over $100 million, I asked him how liquid he is. He told me he is two months behind on his kids tuition.

@DutchmanCapital @Eric_Erins Jerry’s Fruits is a treasure that nobody else can compete with

@Eric_Erins Chicago suburbs have the worst grocery options ive ever seen.
English

@emre_mayo @therealburns3 Alsip, but good call. Great steaks!
Another random option in the suburbs, Fresh Farms in Niles carries Slagel Farms and Niman Ranch
Dry aged stuff too… my secret spot
English

@Stealx @therealburns3 Whittingham Meats. They home deliver next day, and their prime steaks comparable to any of the best steakhouses in America.

@Stealx i used to live and work on Ravenswood. i made this (overly dense) comic strip on some of the highlights and history of the corridor. It truly is a great street.

@Stealx Love this stretch. Used to own one of the condos on Grace St in a former garment factory, amazing view of the skyline. This is an underrated stretch in any US city.

@resetbasis All you have to do is offer 16 weeks and problem solved, I don't see what the problem is
English

@Stealx How much cash do you keep on hand in case of an emergency?
You also probably make a ton per year so your monthly cash flow is phenomenal
English

@Stealx I totally understand but he still has $90M that is compounding his wealth

The best GPs I've backed will do whatever it takes to make a deal work for everyone in it
Not because their PFS depends on it. Because a hit to the track record isn't an option, their reputation is on the line
The worst ones? "Win some, lose some, math works out across my track record."
Reputational capital is the only LP protection that compounds
English

When things go wrong, my primary goal at that point is figuring out one thing
Was it the markets fault or was it your fault?
Hypothetical… markets crash, US spirals into ugly recession and your deal goes bad. Blame isn’t on you, the GP, that’s on me for missing macro risks.
But what I care about in that moment is how you react to the deal going bad.
How’s your communication to LPS as the ship is sinking?
Any creative ways of saving it? Some get proactive and try to genuinely save it, some will move on and focus on the next deal that’s now a “distressed” deal and they can raise for that…
English

This is something that I just can’t rectify in my brain
Many people that take OPM don’t think about the reputational destruction of doing a bad job or a bad deal
They act cavalier with other people’s hard earned money
Things do go wrong, despite a GP‘s best efforts on occasion
This kind of thing is my worst nightmare
I’d be up at night every night trying to figure out how to make something work
Your reputation is all you have in this business
How you treat people especially when things go wrong matters
I probably sound naïve saying that, but the best way I know of to make you a friend for life is to do what you say you’re going to & fix it if it goes off the rails

Again: the CIA did NOT overthrow the Iranian leader in 1953, a myth born of the left's attempt to delegitimize the Shah.

@skylarromines @Stealx Be careful. Someone might send a live raccoon to your house.

Sorry for being so offline today. For some reason, I got inundated with flower deliveries. People must have thought it was my birthday or something!
Jokes aside, I posted a tweet - *you know* which one - that majorly bombed. Maybe I could have phrased it better, but I didn’t. Now it’s out there... Everywhere.
I don’t have a strategy for posting & there’s certainly not a team of people here. It’s just me, Skylar. I promised you pure, unadulterated human [no AI] slop, and I meant it. I don’t pre plan posts. I don’t reread & edit posts. I post what’s on my mind in the moment. Authentic, direct, real. Many say mildly autistic. Good or bad idk. Probably both. But it’s the only Skylar I know how to be.
A lot of the time, that works pretty well. Some people like her. I’ve been beyond blessed with great friends here and I try to contribute as much value & love as I get [even though that would be impossible, given how much I get from this community]
But sometimes my life is unrelatable to a lot of people on this site & that seems to make it easy to judge me in a certain light. Much more harshly than I’m used to being judged in the real world. It’s easy to forget that people here aren’t reading my words through the lens of actually knowing me.
That’s the cost of being a real person on social media, instead of hiding behind copy editing, filtered thoughts, and contrived bullshit like most people do online.
I understand that that won’t work for everyone & that’s totally fine. You don’t have to follow me. I’m frequently amazed so many of you choose to tbh
For the real friends I’ve made along the way, I’m glad you’re here, and I’m looking forward to more growth, success & fun together.
If that’s not you - hey, I get it. I don’t find me funny some days either. But I’m still wishing you all the best. Let me know where I can send you flowers 🫶🏼
