Every year, U.S. News ranks the world’s countries by quality of life. Not by GDP. By the actual, lived experience of being a human being inside your borders. Job market. Affordability. Safety. Healthcare. Education. Income equality. Political stability. The results are in: 🇩🇰 Denmark topped the list. Highest median wages in the world. A political system so stable it makes the Vatican look impulsive. Healthcare that functions. Four national languages spoken without anyone declaring a culture war. And the Alps, just sitting there, being magnificent. 🇨🇦 Canada at 5 is what happens when you take North American scale and add functioning public services. 🇦🇺 Australia at 8 adds sunshine and one of the best-funded pension systems on earth. 🇳🇿 New Zealand at 10 adds the kind of landscapes that make grown adults cry on planes, plus a government that has quietly become a global model for actually governing. 🇩🇪 Germany at 7 built the strongest industrial economy in Europe and then wrapped it in a social safety net so comprehensive that losing your job feels more like an inconvenience than a catastrophe. 🇮🇪 Ireland at 15 went from economic basket case to European tech hub in thirty years. 🇯🇵 Japan at 14 has cities where you can leave your wallet on a park bench and come back to find it exactly where you left it, with an apology note from anyone who accidentally touched it. And then there is 🇺🇸 the United States. 22nd. A country with 813 billionaires, highways wide enough to land a small aircraft, and meals so large they arrive at the table like a geographical feature. Behind the US, at 23, sits 🇸🇬 Singapore. Tiny, ruthlessly efficient, with an education system that tops global rankings and a port that moves more cargo than most continents. At 24, 🇵🇱 Poland, which has quietly built one of the most resilient economies in Central Europe after decades of pulling itself up from genuine ruin. Det er med nogen undren, at jeg læser manges udtalelser om, at Vanopslaghs ærlighed er forfriskende, og at sagen bare skal glemmes. Jeg har ondt af @AlexVanopslagh hvis statsministerposten glipper pga den sag. Men han foretog sig nogle fuldstændig idiotiske handlinger. Som voksent menneske, som partileder. Vel vidende at det kunne skade ham politisk. Der er jo ikke bare tale om Alex nede fra kassen i Netto. Der er tale om en partileder, der rækker ud efter landets højeste hverv. Hvorfor er der ikke flere der taler om dette? Hvad er “prisen” for at bryde loven her?

@olebirkolesen Så skaderne/udgiften til genopretning/rengøring af grund- og drikke-vand, samt åer, fjorde og de indre farvande, skal landbruget betale?

Afgiften på en cigaret bør svare til de offentlige udgifter til behandling af tobaksrelaterede sygdomme i sundhedsvæsenet. Hverken mere eller mindre. Afgiften på en liter benzin eller diesel bør svare til de omkostninger omregnet til kroner og øre, som samfundet påføres, når fossile brændstoffer brændes af i en motor, og der udledes partikler og CO2 fra udstødningen. Hverken mere eller mindre. Vi har valgkamp i Danmark, og valgkampe er højsæson for populisme. Venstrefløjen er som altid fortaler for formynderi og højere skatter, så den vil have overbeskatning gennem højere afgifter, som allerede er høje nok, og dele af højrefløjen vil omvendt sænke afgifter, så de kommer under niveauet for den skade, som forbruget gør på samfundet. Ingen af delene er hverken fornuftigt eller rimeligt. Vi skal bruge de milliarder, som er i overskud i statskassen, til at lette skatten på arbejde og på investeringer i Danmark, så vi kommer til at leve i et rigere samfund med råd til mere af alt det, som er godt.

@LiberalAlliance @AlexVanopslagh inden jeg skal afgive min stemme i morgen, hvor er LA mht. til vores drikke- og grund-vand? Skal landbruget forsat have lov til udlede pesticider og kvælstof der pt. er godt i gang med at dræbe vandløb, fjorde og de indre farvande?
