Tomorrow, we launch. At sunset tonight, Artemis II waits on the pad, ready to carry astronauts potentially farther than any humans have traveled in more than half a century. The next era of exploration begins.

“We leave as we came, and God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind.” -Gene Cernan, Apollo 17 commander. Taurus Littrow Valley. Now, for the first time in 54 years, we are on the eve of humanity’s return to the moon. Godspeed Artemis II.

My nose is about 100 years long in toto. My nose also recognizes the infinite relative vastness of space compared to any and actually all of the planetary bodies in this system. Still trying to figure out why we would pick *this* celestial body to not just land on but impregnate with permanent structures, when we could simpy put something in geosync orbit around earth or (if we absolutely must) around the moon. The future of humanity looks rather bleak with or without the context of a spacefaring paradigm. The largest and most complete exhibit is... earth. We've really fucked it up. Some might say we hedge our future fucking up of earth with additional terrestrial bets. I do not see how. The counterfactual would be that with ever single celestial body we inhabit our ability to fuck it up is proportionately reduced. We've actually no data on that yet. We've been to the moon. Our presence there has had multiple outcomes: human deaths, engineering innovation, trash and subsequent relatively outsized human suffering. I'm trying to be optimistic Bobby. @NASA I really am. Please help us be more optimistic re the tangible benefits of *human* exploration of the *surface* of the moon. Thank you.

I'm honestly SHOCKED at how the general public has NO IDEA Artemis II is taking humans out to the moon and will be the furthest humans have ever flown. Every non-space nerd I've talked to has no idea. WE GOTTA GET PEOPLE STOKED!!!! THESE FOUR HUMANS ARE FLYING TO THE MOON!!!

@Richytoons People forget that companies are just groups of people and they’re also subject to making mistakes, but you can’t say that in 2026, you’ll be passed off as “defending the billionaires”

Seeing the comments under this is so disgusting, it's like you don't care about the people at all and just want to hate. As much as I hate this whole situation, you have to expect mistakes to happen, and you need to learn to accept an apology
Tim Sweeney@TimSweeneyEpic

@BackersGamesF Epic is in contact with the family and will solve the insurance for them. There is high confidentiality around medical information and it was not a factor in this layoff decision. Sorry to everyone for not recognizing this terribly painful situation and handling it in advance.

@Grummz Fortnite has become unrecognizable because they diverted their focus from the Battle Royale mode to other parts of the game. Sweeney stated that they’ll go back to focusing on what actually made the game popular instead of trying to diversify, if done right I think it’ll pay off.

The Epic store is a mess. Fortnite is unrecognizable. Unreal Engine is quickly becoming only for top 5% of PCs and Hollywood. Now 25% of the company is laid off. What's the path forward? They say they want to double down on Fortnite, but that seems unwise.

They honestly need to reboot the game and go back to what made the game great. Fresh, fun, and colorful maps, no collabs, engaging story with fun events through the seasons, unique loot pool with weekly updates, revamped matchmaking, remove bots, simple OG (non turbo) building. People don't want a million side modes, focus on BR (it's what put Fortnite on the map in the first place) and create modes like LTM's that are focused around the BR itself again. The last 3 years have felt like a complete tonal shift for the game with it's graphics and mechanics, shoot even the map designs and they need to get back to the feel of Chapters 1-4. The last season of Chapter 6 has been the first time I legit stopped caring and nothing seems to have changed in chapter 7. Same map layout, same graphics and dull colors, basic weapons, same vehicles, boat loads of collabs. Chapter 8 NEEDS to be a fresh start for the game's sake at this point.

Epic Games says Fortnite didn't perform as well in 2025 as expected, and they're shutting down Rocket Racing, Festival Battle Stage, and Ballistic modes in Fortnite

To build a sustained human presence on the Moon, we are building @NASAMoonBase, prioritizing surface operations and scalable infrastructure.  - Frequent robotic landings and mobility testing including MoonFall drones  - Starting in 2027 nearly monthly cadence of equipment and rovers with scientific payloads landing on the Moon.  - Investments in power, communications, and surface mobility  - Scalable infrastructure to support long-term human presence The objective is clear: build the foundation for an enduring lunar base and take the next step toward Mars.

Tim Sweeney has stated this in terms of the future for Fortnite: What we now need to do is clear: build awesome Fortnite experiences with fresh seasonal content, gameplay, story, and live events; accelerate developer tools with greater stability and capability as we evolve from Unreal Engine 5 and UEFN to Unreal Engine 6. And we'll be kicking off the next generation of Epic with huge launch plans towards the end of the year.

@bnwkr I understand a business's desire to expand, every company wants to grow, but Epic decided to release UEFN and all of these new games during a time when the game wasn't in the best possible state it could be, and we ended up getting was a bunch of clearly unfinished projects.

@ThisIsITalk I've said for many years that the game desperately needs some offline functionality, I'm sure the BR will stay with us for many years to come but parts of the game like STW and LEGO don't work offline and for all we know they might not last very long.

Claude just released an AI tool that lets Claude use your computer just like a human, with mouse and keyboard support to use any app. This is what Elon was talking about a year ago, and to me, the fact that Grok doesn’t have this by now is proof enough for me the xAI original chemistry was off. I hope the re-org beats the pants off Claude for this and for code. I’m a huge Grok fan and want to use it for coding, but it’s not there yet.
