@SeaSpitfires 112th LAA Battery RCA was re-roled to rockets from anti-aircraft duties on 9 October, just 23 days before firing these salvos for Infatuate I. They fired the launchers for the first time on 29 Oct near Gheel.

@Kormin_ It looks like even the statues are cowering from the wind!

People: Oh you are a battlefield guide in #Normandy. So cool, you can spend your days at the beach 🏖️ !
Meanwhile, the beach....

@SeaSpitfires I am considering skipping the cemetery on future tours I run due to the restrictions. I used to visit the 5 Cdns there, but have not been able to in recent years. Still go to the beach, just not the cemetery. The @ABMC seems to want to restrict access to families of the fallen.

Can I rent one of those machines for my Airfix 1:72 Bristol Beaufort model, it would be done in a flash!

It took about 10 gallons of product to repaint the top of our Lancaster's wings. Huge thanks to KF Aerospace for the excellent work - and the timelapse!

@SeaSpitfires Trolling by the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. Regimental plaques do tend to plus up their contribution. I was there for its unveiling in 1997, star of the event was Charlie Martin author of "Battle Diary", his wartime memoir and a great read.

@DivebumChef A friend who was serving in the 50s told me that it was not until 1959 that the changed crown was fully distributed with the St Edward's crown of QEII replacing the Tudor crown of KGVI.
English

@britishmemorial My understanding is that CANLOAN officers are on the memorial. I looked few up to check, perhaps not all.

The 99 'Lost' Names of Normandy: for the first time since its official opening, more names of servicemen who sacrificed their lives on D-Day and during the Battle of Normandy are engraved onto the Memorial.
The 99 men are aged 17 to 48 and represent all military services and include a number of nationalities who served under British command.

@ReiverHall @ThomasWatsonCD I had a C2 mag carrier that the QM told me did not exist, no NSN, and would not take back. They told me that they were locally produced by Mat Techs (?) over the years, so I gave mine to a museum.

English

@ThomasWatsonCD I know the feeling - I had kit to turn in that some of the supply techs had never seen before… but hey, I got to keep my C5!

@globalwinnipeg On a walking tour of Winnipeg a few years ago our guide took us by this statue. He noted that the sculptor was American and so depicted an American soldier, rather than a Canadian soldier. When it was delivered it was decided to put it up anyway. Move it back to the bank!

@DivebumChef @thestinkeye @DeptofWar @USW_PR_HONTata Chaplain Hickey of the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment wearing the rank of Captain 1944.

@DivebumChef @thestinkeye @DeptofWar @USW_PR_HONTata Chaplain of 1 Can Para wearing the rank of Captain 1944. Perhaps the non-rank insignia was a Navy thing?

English

How’s that accountability for widespread moral and administrative cowardice throughout the @DeptofWar officer corps - even the chaplains - coming @USW_PR_HONTata?

@001PalmerA @BowersWrites @SweetieCanuck This ship is commissioned in the Royal Navy as its ceremonial flagship. It is a historical symbol not a fighting ship.

English

@BowersWrites @SweetieCanuck Can that ship even be rearmed...
She is sea worthy. I seen him in the Halifax Harbour. But she is so old. And such a old design, that there is no way and hell we can use it in a combat situation. Hell she cant even maintain speed with any of our DDs and FFs. Even our PTs...

HMCS Sackville, the last-surviving Flower-class corvette of the Second World War, will soon be formally recommissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN).
